The Thales proposal consists of sensors, radar components, electronic support measures, and the Airborne Maritime Situation Control System (
AMASCOS).
The
AMASCOS system integrates Ocean Master search radar, electronic-support measures, the Chlio forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera, and the Gemini navigation computer.
The 22.5-tonne ATR72 is being further developed for both antisurface vessel and anti-submarine roles, equipped with the Thales
Amascos mission system, including the Ocean Master radar.
The four aircraft will be fitted with the Airborne Maritime Situation Control System 300 (
AMASCOS 300) under a $150 million contract to Thomson-CSF of France.
The P 99 proposed for Brazil has a Thales
Amascos mission system, including Ocean Master radar and Agile flir.
Designated as DR 3000A systems, these equipments will form part of a complete mission avionics update for the two aircraft, which will see the introduction of Thomson's
Amascos antisubmarine warfare (ASW) suite.
