"A remarkable survival horror" -PC Gamer

Madness has arrived...

Total Chaos is a total conversion mod for Doom 2 that runs on the GZDoom source port. The mod is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis. The island was once run by a community of coal miners which one day suddenly disappeared, leaving behind the abandoned concrete jungle to waste away.

Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to be found. Survive in 6 chapters, against over 8 horrifying fiends with a large assortment of weapons. The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.

Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to he found. The further you travel into the concrete jungle, the more the situation ends up unraveling, and where you were heading is no longer clear. Find letters scattered around the world and uncover the mystery of what happened.

Survive in 6 chapters

Explore the island of Fort Oasis in 6 chapters. In these chapters you will fight through apartments, utility tunnels, shopping centers, before reaching the city center and the mines that await you.

Fight against horrifying fiends

In every chapter, you will encounter new and even more horrifying creations. Each one processing their own unique attack patterns. Learning these is vital to surviving the oncoming onslaught.

Dispatch of them with a large assortment of weapons

Use anything you can find on the island to fight against the forces of evil. There are guns, but ammo for them is incredibly hard to come by. You will mostly be relying on tireirons, pickaxes, shivs and garden tools. Most of these can be crafted and some can be upgraded to wield more powerful blows.

The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.

Today I'm revealing some stuff a friend and I have been working on in sort of secret for the last couple of years. A remaster of Total Chaos is indeed in the works, and is using the Unreal Engine 5.

Here is how it is shaping up!

No announcements for release dates at this time (still a couple years away), however the game will be dropping as its own standalone package.

Some of you may be experiencing crashes while attempting to load save files. The readme included with the download offers two methods of fixing the problem. But there is a third method that is faster and easier than the other two methods. What you do is run the game in window mode and resize the window so it fills less than a quarter of the screen. Load your save file and then go into the video options in the pause menu. Select the option toward the bottom that applies the settings in fullscreen mode, and you're good to go.

For anyone with the same problem as me on AMD GPU. If you tried the Vulkan method and you still get the "out of device memory" error then go to Options>Display Options>Texture Options> turn "precache gl textures" off

Hopefully I've saved someone some time, it took me a few hours to figure it out lol.

sadly i don't know if it is

in wadaholic's post mortem showing the different versions of Total Chaos from 2004 to now, the 2008 version was gonna have a multiplayer (1 picture shows the monster side, 1 shows the buy menu with a G36K rifle and such)

a shame, would have been awesome to play multiplayer
