"A remarkable survival horror" -PC Gamer

Madness has arrived...

Total Chaos is a total conversion mod for Doom 2 that runs on the GZDoom source port. The mod is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis. The island was once run by a community of coal miners which one day suddenly disappeared, leaving behind the abandoned concrete jungle to waste away.

Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to be found. Survive in 6 chapters, against over 8 horrifying fiends with a large assortment of weapons. The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.

Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to he found. The further you travel into the concrete jungle, the more the situation ends up unraveling, and where you were heading is no longer clear. Find letters scattered around the world and uncover the mystery of what happened.

Survive in 6 chapters

Explore the island of Fort Oasis in 6 chapters. In these chapters you will fight through apartments, utility tunnels, shopping centers, before reaching the city center and the mines that await you.

Fight against horrifying fiends

In every chapter, you will encounter new and even more horrifying creations. Each one processing their own unique attack patterns. Learning these is vital to surviving the oncoming onslaught.

Dispatch of them with a large assortment of weapons

Use anything you can find on the island to fight against the forces of evil. There are guns, but ammo for them is incredibly hard to come by. You will mostly be relying on tireirons, pickaxes, shivs and garden tools. Most of these can be crafted and some can be upgraded to wield more powerful blows.

The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.

Today I'm revealing some stuff a friend and I have been working on in sort of secret for the last couple of years. A remaster of Total Chaos is indeed in the works, and is using the Unreal Engine 5.

Here is how it is shaping up!

No announcements for release dates at this time (still a couple years away), however the game will be dropping as its own standalone package.

So uhh how do i use a controller with this game? I managed to get movement down but not pressing buttons besides the help menu??

Update: FIddled with the settings go to joystick and turn that stuff on(enable controller support). Then head to customize controls and set it up there. It's pretty weird.

For some reason, everytime I save and leave the game, it just discards those saves and says I have no files. I checked the app data and it shows that I do have the exact saves in my computer, but it's just not appearing in the game.

Solution: Extract the game from the zip. It works when you extract the game.

okay i did the vulkan stuff already but then i get "Shader 'shaders/old.fp' could not be compiled:
ERROR: 0:9: 'binding' : sampler/texture/image requires layout(binding=X)
ERROR: 1 compilation errors. No code generated." on the retro version and "Could not allocate memory for vulkan buffer: out of device memory" on the normal version

If you're still looking for a fix go to Options>Display Options>Texture Options> turn "precache gl textures" off

For some reason my game stutters every few seconds making it unplayable. I have an AMD gpu (6600) and cpu (5 3400g) i get about 120 fps when its not stuttering. Any possible fix? I really want to play your mod!

Found a fix from comments below: download latest gzdoom and replace stuff from ingame folder, then select vulcan in game options (instead of open gl)
