This mod by the PiratesAhoy! Community is still in active development on our forums.
We have come a long way since 2003, adding much new content and many new features.
Some of those which were considered impossible to achieve!
The intention is to provide as full an historical Age of Sail game experience as possible,
both more realistic, but also more fun.
New features include more storylines, historical detail, abilities for free play,
variety and more customisation than ever before.
Not to mention that the graphics have also been improved upon,
mainly with new models and textures, but also the sea itself and anywhere else that we could manage.
Although the game is called "Pirates of the Caribbean" and a lot of movie-specific content has been added,
that is not all that's been done.
Better still, there is a lot to enjoy even for those people who don't much care for the movies.
It is entirely possible to play the game as a fully realistic period naval simulation, rather than a movie tie-in.
Ahoy there everyone, and a happy new year!
This one is one that was literately years in the making. It could have carried on, but there always comes a moment when you need to draw a line. So Pieter Boelen as his final act on this mod released the final version of Build 14. Which you can download here on ModDB and the PiratesAhoy! website since yesterday. The last mod update article we had shared was back in 2016, so let us take a small glance on what has been added since. If you haven’t played since you may find something new.
For starters there have been changes and improvements on various storylines. Grey Roger’s “Ardent” has been extended and bugs have been fixed. Same for Jack Rackham’s “Gold Bug” and “Woodes Rogers”. The latter also got a second part, which fans of the first part should check out. Another storyline that got some love is “Devlin Opera”. Which used to be classified as unfinished, but BathtubPirate fixed this by working on it. Now there should be more to it.
New side quests were also added. Grey Roger made "Crystal Skull", "Silver for Cartagena", and "Natividad Incident" for Horatio Hornblower (both FreePlay and storyline). While Bartolomeu o Portugues made "A Family Story" and "A French Companion" for José Joaquím Almeida. Plus there now are background profession specific “trophy quests”. So far the one for agents was made by Grey Roger, the one for engineers by Jack Rackham, and the gambler’s one by both pedrwyth and Jack Rackham.
Davy Jones, and his crew, got new character models by Karlik Nos.
And on the same topic, his ship and cabin also got new models I borrowed from Sea Dogs: To Each His Own.
Women can now also sit down, and be assigned governors.
As for new ships; some that are used in quests or as character ships are the following:
“FastGalleon5” for “Ardent” by Grey Roger.
A new version of the cursed Mariana by GhostOfDeath91 for Ricardo Orellana, his free play character.
A modified version of Armada's "Kreyser" Class Frigate by me. Used as the “Mefisto” in the "Revolutions" period.
Last but not least, there have been new characters to play as. One of them being Drake Stranton, from the novel Cursed Vengeance by Brent Jackson. Model made by Jack Rackham and Grey Roger.
There is that, and more I couldn’t add here and now. So what are ye waiting for!? Go out to the seas ye scurvy sea dogs, will you!
Edit: 8/1/2022
A few screenshots Grey Roger shared.
"A shot from the new version of "Devlin Opera", also showing new character models for Maria Antonia (originally for "Ardent") and Piet Hein (another of Pieter Boelen's suggestions)."
"San Pedro, the Spanish version of St. Pierre, because this is "Early Explorers" and the normally French Martinique becomes Spanish Martinica:"
"Which means everyone gets a random Spanish name, though families are preserved:"
PotC: New Horizons is close to fully playable on Maelstrom 2.8.4, and things that don't yet work are being fixed.

A lot is possible, but there isn't anyone around at the moment with the interest and ability to make it happen.

Hi there, little question. I recently decided to start playing again. Installation and such went just fine and the game starts as well. However, as soon as I start one of the storylines I see a loading screen for a while after which the game crashes. I've looked for solutions online, but can't seem te find any. Is the game not compatible for Windows 10?
I hope you guys can help me 'cause I'd love to play the game again!
Kind regards
Maybe this helps?

Hey Pieter, thanks for the link. It worked! I have two more questions if you don't mind.
1: While the game worked just fine when I'd just installed it, now it crashes after a few minutes of playing. Any ideas on how to fix this?
2: My crew morale started dropping like hell because of the amount of gold I had, so I decided to sign articles. This worked at first, but now the morale is dropping again and I can't seem to change the crew pay. Why do they dislike me now?
Thanks for your help!
If you can, please post here: Piratesahoy.net
I'd like to give you a proper response, but I barely have Internet. There are other people on our forum who can probably help you quicker.
I understand. I just tried to post it, but for some reason I am unable to create an account because the reCAPTCHA verification is not loading.
Send me a private message with your preferred username, password and e-mail address and I'll set you up an account manually when I get the chance.
Anyway, I've got a bit more time now so I'll try a first answer:
1. Without more information, I cannot say what is going on there. The error logs might tell us more. Also, what are your general computer specs?
2. When you "Sign Articles", eventually you have to "Divide the Plunder". You can do this at any Loanshark. For more details on how that game mode works, see the "New Horizons Tutorials & History.pdf" in your game's "Documentation" folder on page 275. I hope that explains things.
If you are a privateer, you can also buy a Merchant License at the EITC/WIC offices on Jamaica and Curacao to avoid morale drops while being on salary.
