In a statement, the Faro Territorial Command of the GNR alleges that the clothing items, including sports equipment, bore recognised brands and were being sold illegally.

The seizure resulted from a police inspection at the market in the town of Moncarapacho, in the municipality of Olhão.

During the operation, two women, aged 24 and 42, were identified and two reports were drawn up for the crime of counterfeiting, with the case being sent to the Olhão Court.

The inspection “is part of a continuous effort to combat the sale of counterfeit products in the area, with a view to protecting consumer rights and the intellectual property of legitimate brands”, concludes the GNR note.
