(wôld′hīm′, vält′-), Kurt 1918-2007. Austrian diplomat and politician. He served as secretary-general of the United Nations (1972-1981) and was later elected as president of Austria (1986-1992), despite accusations that he had covered up details of his service in the German army during World War II and may have been complicit in war crimes.
