The loft was composed of eight species of ramphastids: seven tocotoucans (Ramphastos toco), four red-breasted toucans (Ramphastos dicolorus), four red-billed toucans (Ramphastos tucanus), four spot-billed toucanets (Selenidera maculirostris), three black-necked aracaris (Pteroglossus aracari), one saffron toucanet (Pteroglossus bailloni), one channel-billed toucan (Ramphastos vitellinus) and one chestnut-eared aracari (Pteroglossus castanotis).

Based on serrate patterns left on the clay models, three bite marks on separate clay models were left by aracari (Pteroglossus spp.).

A familia Ramphastidae, cujas especies sao popularmente conhecidas como tucanos e aracaris apresentam atualmente trinta e tres especies distribuidas em seis generos (Andigna, Aulachorynchus, Baillonius, Pteroglossus, Ramphastos e Selenidera), e pertence a ordem Piciformes, a qual tambem pertence os pica-paus (familia Picidae).
