This is an updated version of the original Quake II without engine limits and with widescreen resolutions support. Also included are images of official audio CDs for game music playback in CD quality. In addition, there is a disc image of Quake II Net Pack I: Extremities - the official collection of the best mods for the game, which also includes new maps, player skins and bots for multiplayer.
Installation
- Install the game
- Download archive
- Unpack the downloaded archive with file replacement to the game folder
CD Music
To play music in the game you need to mount an audio CD image using a special program. If the music is not playing, then you need to make sure that the used virtual drive is indicated by a letter that appears in alphabetical order before the letters of other drives. For example, if the system has virtual drives E and F, then the game CD image must be mounted in the drive with the letter E. You can also use only one virtual drive, in this case the drive letter does not matter.

If you don’t want to use CD images, you can copy the audio tracks separately to the "music" folder in the root game directory.
Multiplayer
To play on the Internet, you need to open a website with a server list, then copy the server address, go to the game and type in the command line: connect paste_address
To simplify the joining to the server, its address can be added into the address book, for this you need go to: MULTIPLAYER → join network server → address book; and type the server address in one of the lines. After that the entered address will be displayed in the server list.

Installation process
- Move the folder with custom content to the game directory.
Maps can also be moved to a subdirectory: baseq2\maps
- Create a shortcut to the game's executable file → right-click → select "Properties" → in the appeared window in the "Object" field at the end of the line after the space type the needed launch option from the list below:
+set game mod_folder_name to run modifications
+map name +set skill 0-3 (easy-hard+) to launch maps from the "maps" folder
+set game map(s)_folder_name +map name +set skill 0-3 (easy-hard+) to launch maps from a separate folder
