Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons Delayed to 2022

Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons has been delayed. The new expansion for the popular MMORPG from ArenaNet will not debut until next year.

NCsoft-owned studio ArenaNet, the developers of MMORPG Guild Wars 2, announced that End of Dragons, the third, after Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, expansion for its popular game, will be released later than planned. The expansion, which was supposed to debut in late 2021, will come out in early 2022. However, we will not have to wait half a year to see End of Dragons in action - on July 27 a live stream is planned, during which trailer of the new expansion and details related to its history, characters, new features and beta tests will be presented.

And that's not all, because the creators are working on improving the engine of Guild Wars 2 so that the game can take advantage of the benefits of DirectX 11. This alone won't improve the graphics or increase frame rates - something the community has been complaining about - but it will "open many doors to performance improvements, such as allowing multi-threading on CPUs. The developers' plans for 2021 also include improvements to the World vs World (WvW) mode, which will host clashes between active players, guilds and alliances thanks to the World Restructuring feature.

ArenaNet has not provided any new information on the release of Guild Wars 2 on Steam, which has been delayed due in part to the desire to polish up End of Dragons. There is a chance that the developers will revisit this issue in the near future. It's worth noting that after the restructuring, former game director Colin Johanson has recently returned to the ranks of developers, as did Josh "Grouch" Davis - formerly Brand Manager/PvP Team Manager, and currently Head of Live Operations.
