XDefiant. 15 best free online shooters to play in 2024

Table of Contents

XDEFIANT IN A NUTSHELL

  1. Developer: Ubisoft
  2. Publisher: Ubisoft
  3. Platforms: PC, PS5, XSX
  4. Release date: May 2024

Shooting games can be categorized as tactical, focused on realistic battlefield scenarios, or dynamic with a hint of madness. XDefiant certainly belongs to the latter group. The gameplay here is as fast as in Call of Duty and just as enjoyable.

We have gotten used to the fact that Ubisoft doesn't really give players anything for free. On the contrary, the publisher can even manage to put microtransactions into a paid single player game. That's why the decision to make the featured title available for free was a pleasant surprise. It doesn't reinvent the multiplayer FPS genre, but even the weakest elements here present at least an average level, which is a lot in today's times.

The similarities to CoD aren't limited to the pace of gameplay. Similar to the already legendary series XDefiant focuses on small maps and quite high durability of the fighters - we won't die or kill anyone with just one "bullet." Returning to the places where the action takes place, it's worth noting that some of the locations were moved from other Ubisoft hits, which may have been a shortcut, but returning to places from Far Cry or The Division can be a joy.

Factions were also borrowed from other games of the studio. Representatives of each group have special skills - a comparison to classes is most appropriate. It's just a shame that we don't see more variety in the available arsenal. There are few weapon models, but this will probably change over time. The full version of the game was released very recently, in May of this year. Nonetheless, it's worth giving the title a chance now - after all, you can check it out for free. Despite the very fast and intense gameplay, there should not be any problems with the smoothness of the animations. The game doesn't have high system requirements, but that doesn't prevent it from looking at least decent.

  1. XDefiant in our encyclopedia

XDefiant is a game for you if:

  1. you prefer dynamic gameplay on small maps;
  2. if you like other Ubisoft games - you will find a lot of references to the studio's previous titles;
  3. you want to play a whole match in a short time because you happen to have a free moment.
