- "Behold Ibuki!"
- —Ibuki (Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike)
Ibuki (いぶき Ibuki?) is a video game character from the Street Fighter series, first appearing in Street Fighter III: New Generation. She is a young ninja-in-training from an ancient clan who would rather live a normal life of a modern female Japanese teenager.
Biography[]
Appearance[]
Ibuki has a petite, yet athletic build, and her black hair, remarkably divided in three angular bangs at the front, in the back it her twin ponytails are about mid-thigh length and held back tightly in a topknot (though some other media changes this). Unlike most other female characters in the same genre, Ibuki's outfit is a more traditional type of ninja dogi, consisting of a sleeveless black upper garment, baggy pants, arm guards, and a mask that conceals the lower half of her face. Her footwear consists only of cloth bandages that are wrapped around her shins, ankles, and instep, somewhat realistically protecting her from foot related injuries. Her garments are more revealing than normal ninja ones, however.
As seen in one of her win animations in Street Fighter III, Ibuki's normal clothes consist of a white sleeveless loose shirt, blue denim pants, and gray and black sneakers. She also carries a yellow backpack. Her school uniform consist of a light blue sleeveless shirt under a white short sleeve button shirt with a red laced ribbon at the center of her collar, light blue skirt, black panties underneath, white socks, and blue and white sneakers.
Ibuki tends to have ninja themed accessories in some of her casual outfits. Her 2nd alternate in Street Fighter IV has a chain of miniaturized toy kunai and a shuriken belt buckle, and has added ninja elements to two of her uniforms and her school swimsuit. Her sporty outfit despite being one of the more realistic outfits for her based on a female track and field runner's outfit has Kunai printed in various parts of the outfit.
Concept[]
Designed by Akiman and Kinu Nishimura, Ibuki's design was modeled after Linn Kurosawa, an original character that appeared in the Alien vs Predator arcade game. Ibuki's friend, Sarai, shares Linn's last name, making the inspiration more evident. According to Akiman, the team incorporated Koppōjutsu into Ibuki's ninjutsu-based moveset because the fighting style was gaining popularity around the time she was being designed.

This outfit has been Ibuki's main outfit for most of her SF existence and all of her non-canon appearances.
Default[]
Ibuki's default outfit is 1 piece a brown ninja outfit. She has her head wrapped in the same material as the rest of her body. She has finger-less gloves and leg wrappings in a darker brown shade. Realistically the gloves would protect Ibuki's wrists from impact when she connects when hitting her opponent and if she happened to get hit. There is a piece of the glove going through Ibuki's hand.
Ibuki's ankles are also wrapped with wrapping material. This helps stabilize her legs when moving and help protect her from ankle related injuries while in battle. A common cause would be if she twist her ankle it helps prevent swelling. Aesthetically she also wears brown arm bands and the outfit goes all the way down to her ankles. She keeps her twin mid-thigh length ponytails secured in a hair band before they separate and go down well below her tailbone area naturally. Interestingly while this is one of the more realistic, practical, and less revealing outfits for the females of the series Ibuki still shows her hips to quite a degree. It was shown in her comic's "Ask Ibuki" segment she wears underwear that rides pretty high as fans were asking about if she even wears any.
Second Outfit[]
![HDPVRPRO60 20200805 185924 003](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/9/9d/HDPVRPRO60_20200805_185924_003.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/240?cb=20200806004334)
Ibuki's second outfit is her historical school girl outfit.
Ibuki's second SFIV era outfit is her school uniform. This one would later become the overall basis (with some modifications) for her default outfit in the next main series game. This style outfit while meant to provide a similar charm that Sakura's outfit gives is actually a more western version of a female high school uniform. Interesting in her comic Makoto also wore this uniform but in game Makoto's school uniform is completely different.

This picture in the top right shows all the pieces in one of her toylines of how her school outfit is put together. Interestingly this design shows a white dress under her shirt and skirt.

Ibuki wearing her third SFIV outfit
Ibuki's third outfit actually semi debuted during the SFIII games as one of her win poses (though somewhat different). In this game Ibuki's third outfit instead of a regular shirt it is more like a cropped tank top. Her shirt ends at her lower sternum, exposing her belly and navel. She also wears some low riding jeans that start at her hips, the jeans have some noticeable wear on them. On her jeans Ibuki wears a belt (unique to this outfit only throughout her existence) of white color and has a shuriken themed belt buckle, starting a trend for Ibuki's alternates that adorn her alternate outfits ninja themed accessories. This trend has continued for every game Ibuki has appeared since.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200806 021131 025](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/4/4b/HDPVRPRO60_20200806_021131_025.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200807010405)
Ibuki's belt buckle that has a shuriken theme could be seen here
This outfit also started another trend that stuck with Ibuki throughout her SFIV existence and extended to SFXT. In the rump of her jeans she wears a tanuki tail. Many of her outfits after this one would also have Ibuki wearing a tanuki tail in this era, though they all differ in size and appearance. This tail has the usual tanuki brown and black alternating stripes tanuki are usually portrayed to have. She also wears a red backpack. This backpack has two shiriken stitched to it for design.

Ibuki wearing her fourth outfit.
As many of Ibuki and Makoto's outfits in the SFIV era either supplement or complement each other in the sense Ibuki and Makoto have a "Tomboy and Girly Girl" friendship Ibuki being the girly girl has the more feminine "summer" outfit. The overall outfit has a orange and yellow color scheme. Ibuki wears a brown jacket that extends to her upper hips and a yellow skirt. The skirt is the shortest skirt of any Ibuki outfit and doesn't extend much beyond her jacket. The skirt is so short in fact that in many instances it shows her underwear in her idle stance.

Ibuki's backpack in this outfit is also Tanuki styled.

While most of the tanuki tails Ibuki recieves in her alternates usually are near her backside this one instead rest near her hip attached to the fanny pack wrapped around her higher hips.
Ibuki also wears gloves that protect her wrists and hands during combat when she makes contact with her opponent. These appear to be the same as her default outfit's gloves and kind of stick out from the rest of her outfit. Ibuki's sweater has 2 more pouches independent from the fanny pack's pouches that rest at the front side of her waist, one to her right and the other to her left. She wears high white socks with orange strips on the top and orange shoes, both match her jacket.

This outfit is the first time ever Ibuki has had Kunai strapped on her thigh, something that would become common in her SFV outfits in the future.
Fifth Outfit[]
![HDPVRPRO60 20200809 024151 001](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/e/eb/HDPVRPRO60_20200809_024151_001.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/240?cb=20200810041600)
Ibuki's Wild Animal outfit is based on a tanuki.
This set of outfits was called the "wild animal" outfit set where everyone in the cast (at the time) would receive an outfit based on an animal. The choice of animal for everyone in the cast could either be decided at random, but sometimes it is based on their animal motif, personality, and nationality. As Ibuki's own animal motif is tanuki and is based on another less known natural coloring of tanuki different from the usual brown with black spots. Interestingly this outfit also has a ninja-like feel due to the material used to make the outfit and how it covers her lower face just like her default.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200809 024239 001](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/c/c2/HDPVRPRO60_20200809_024239_001.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200810042721)
The edges of Ibuki's outfits (wuch as her top shown here) are decorated with fur.
Unlike her default this outfit is a 2 piece one. The top is held by two pieces that divide from her sternum that then go over her shoulders to her back. The top doesn't cover her sternum but is instead mostly covered by a black material similar to the one she wears underneath her default ninja outfit but ends near the middle of her chest, though it doesn't reveal much of her. On the side under her armpit area on each side her top has elastic holding the front and the back together that shows a little bit of her side. Her top ends at about a 1/4th length of her overall abdomen, meaning that while not midriff exposing as her 3rd outfit this one still exposes on navel while she is in battle.
Interestingly, many of her unused outfits actually have Ibuki dressed as a tanuki. So while outfits like this one being released is uncommon the idea is commonly explored.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200809 024301 007](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/a/a3/HDPVRPRO60_20200809_024301_007.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200810044708)
Ibuki's mask is a tanuki one that covers her lower face and has ears.
On her head Ibuki wears a tanuki mask. It has a similar effect to the cloth mask in her default and many alternates that cover the lower part of her face. Unlike those masks Ibuki doesn't take it off at any point in battle. The mask also has painted on it two eyes and a nose, the nose being just above where Ibuki's forehead starts. In this outfit Ibuki's hips are fully covered by her pants, however unlike her other 2 piece outfits at the waist the pants actually are cut lower than her sides and back to expose her navel a little more. While her hips are fully covered these pants have slits in the front that expose the front of her thighs. Similar to her default at the legs above the ankles these pants also have a "ballooning" effect

Ibuki's tail ribbon in this outfit is a tribute to Don=Chan. Ibuki also just like Don-Chan has her tail ribbon tied at the base of her tail.
Sixth Outfit[]
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 024249 003](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/3/37/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_024249_003.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/240?cb=20200813004120)
Ibuki's 6th SFIV outfit is ghoul-like.
7th for characters who debuted before Super and 6th for those who came after, such as Ibuki herself, this series of outfits were Halloween themed where everyone in the cast received one. This outfit is ghoul-like while also catering to Ibuki's girly-girl personality in this game and also being one of the few outfits where Ibuki's occupation as a ninja, nor her love of tanuki nor her animal motif of said species is on display in any way.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 024331 009](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/5/55/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_024331_009.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200813004453)
Ibuki's leg has fake claw marks
The overall color scheme for this outfit is white and red. Ibuki wears a long 1 piece dress that has a white/grey appearance. The outfit covers Ibuki's whole upper body body under her head and has a "girly" appearance and pattern at the skirt. It ends at Ibuki's lower thighs. At her collar and end of skirt Ibuki has red details, and on her waist she has a red sash that is tied at her back in a ribbon. The sash is the same color as the red on her skirt and collar. Ibuki works sandals of the same red shade and has a red wrapping on her ankles that secures said sandals to her foot with the exact same red hue.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 024340 013](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/3/3e/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_024340_013.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200813005527)
The back of Ibuki's dress.
As this is a Halloween themed outfit, her dress and other details have visible wear. The dress on one side of the skirt has visible rips. On one leg she has fake claw marks that appear as if they have been slashed at by a dangerous creature. On the other leg she has it wrapped in material that has visible rips on them. Ibuki's arms also are wrapped on the same material and both have visible rips that are different for each one.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 024426 027](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/6/6b/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_024426_027.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200813010015)
Ibuki's eye patch is a broken heart and her other eye appears similar to Rolento's in which it is all white.
The end of Ibuki's sleeves and collar both have a frilly design. Her hand wrapping both tie to her middle finger for support but leave her fingers exposed. behind her middle finger another red ribbon is tied. Around Ibuki's neck she has a red cloth that matches the other red details of her outfit and also has a ribbon tied, this time in front. Both of her eyes are decorated differently. One eye is covered in an eyepatch where a red heart is drawn in a broken style, the other one shows no pupils similar to her future partner Rolento. The eyepatch is held in place by straps that run around her head for securing.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 024433 029](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/2/2f/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_024433_029.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200813010618)
This hairstyle, while similar to her usual one, is unique to this outfit.
Street Fighter X Tekken[]
Ibuki's SFXT swap outfit is based on Yoshimitsu from Tekken. Specifically it is based on his Tekken 2 appearance.
Swap[]
Ibuki's swap outfit is based on Yoshimitsu's Tekken 2 appearance. As the outfit was for a male it had to be modified quite a bit for Ibuki's physique, hairstyle, and personality. The most immediate difference is that while Yoshimitsu was shirtless Ibuki instead wears a black skin tight top that shows her torso definition quite well. It is very similar to how she appeared after winning in one of her poses in the SFIII games but the top is longer. Around her chest Ibuki wears some some beads that wrap around the back of her neck and her back just under her arms.
Ibuki wears a purple waist sash that also keeps her brown pants on, her pants are similar to her default outfit's but are cut lower at the hips than her default, and her top rides higher meaning this outfit is even more revealing in that area. She also wears skulls as knee pads as aesthetics that are similar to Yoshimitsu's mask. In this outfit she appears to be wearing black socks and wears sandals over them.

Ibuki's SFXT outfit is a Kimono she cut short that is stated she wore during a festival at her village.
Ibuki's alternate outfit is a pink kimono she modified to be a "mini kimono". Through it's cut size it allows Ibuki more free movement than if it was complete, the long shoulder cloth of traditional kimonos are held in place to not impede her shoulders and arms much by a cloth she wears at each arm to hold the kimono and rides across her back that shapes an "X".
As with traditional female Japanese Kimonos the outfit has nature symbols as patterns, mostly the skirt area. It is possible in it's original incarnation before Ibuki cut it the kimono had even more nature themed prints going down the legs. as some of the pattern seems cut. It should be noted that the outfit is not evenly cut, and gets shorter at her left hip while longer going to her right one. She has a waist sash which is traditional of females with the "hourglass shape", and fits with Ibuki being conscious of fashion. The sash also helps the colors of the Kimono with a red detail that blends in with the design and a light blue one that pops out from the rest of the outfit. Ibuki wears the same "bike shorts" of her SFIV schoolgirl outfit for underwear (albeit glossy compared to the matte black), which is fitting as they are not very revealing and allows Ibuki to comfortably and realistically perform some very high and split legged kicks such as Bonsho Kick and her close standing hard kick.

This unused alternate outfit bears many similarities to her released version, including her rolled up sleeves.
For footwear Ibuki wears sandals, they are held in place by straps that secure the sandals to her feet more snugly than traditional sandals. These sandals take the place of her traditional feet wrapping that protect said feet and legs from injury in her default outfit. Ibuki's hair is the traditional two long ponytail and three bang combo she is known for with two twist. The first one while Ibuki usually bands her hair with an object she actually keeps the base of her ponytails tied together with her own hair, her own long hair is weaved together at the base to keep the ponytails behind her head tied together before separating. This implies that Ibuki prepared for the occasion by growing her already long hair even longer, something that fits with her "girly" personality as the hair length despite the weaving is literally the same as every other appearance.

Ibuki's SFV default is an armorized version of her schoolgirl outfit.
Default[]
Ibuki for the first time has a different default outfit in SFV that combines her schoolgirl public image with her secret ninja one. It takes Ibuki's school uniform, that involves a blue skirt and a blue vest, she wears a white shirt underneath her blue vest with a dark red ribbon on the shirt for design, and shoes that match the color scheme of her clothes.
Over that she has gloves that are thicker than her historical brown default and are sort of a hybrid between said outfit and her SFXT swap gloves in terms of thickness using visual ques from both. As for tradition for her default outfits she wears a mask that covers the lower half of her face. Her legs have blue wrapping and brown protective leather looking armor to presumably defend the area. Under her skirt she wears "spat" style dark blue underwear and just where her skirt ends she has visible. For her hair she has a red hairband knotting her twin ponytails just like with her historical default outfit before they divide.
Story[]

Ibuki's story mode outfit is a white dress she wore to Karin's party.
Ibuki's story mode outfit is a white dress. The dress is similar to, and was made to resemble, Karin's own story mode dress with it's own differences. Ibuki's dress is held by two straps that run across Ibuki's shoulders, mostly exposing them. The dress's straps end, and the actual coverage begins at Ibuki's sternum to cover her breast and lower back. The dress has a pattern under the breast just above the midriff running around the circular area and under that her dress just remains the same simple pattern and color.

A view of Ibuki's purse
Unlike many other of her outfits Ibuki doesn't have any leg, arm, or hand guards and they are all mostly exposed. This is likely as Ibuki didn't expect to be fighting while wearing the outfit, though in every scenario she wears it be it in game or during her story she is not handicapped by wearing this dress in any way. The dress's coverage ends at her thighs when she is standing straight, showing a large portion of her legs. She wears white low pump sandals that match the dress's color for footwear that wouldn't help her much for fighting mobility, though that doesn't affect her in action in any way. Her twin ponytails as usual is held together by a band tying her ponytails together at the base of her head before separating. The color of this band matches her dress and sandals.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200806 020601 009](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/7/7c/HDPVRPRO60_20200806_020601_009.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200806073001)
A picture showing another angle of Ibuki's purse and it's strap.
Unique to this outfit Ibuki wears a purse, a first for any of Ibuki's released outfits. The purse runs across her right shoulder and rests at the left side of her waist when Ibuki isn't using it, though the purse isn't usable or accessible while playing as her she has in at least one occasion been seen holding it with her hands and not around her shoulder in her story mode. The purse is of salmon pink color buckled and adjusted with a gold colored buckle. While the purse is a first the idea was first seen in one of Ibuki's unreleased Street Fighter X Tekken outfits where she is dressed as a tanuki and had a purse in that outfit.
Ibuki appears in this dress in the Back To School Special comic. This is as in that canon Ibuki graduated Agato Gongen High School and was instead advertising her university alongside keeping with the representing SF females wearing clothes that end with skirts/dresses alongside Karin and Sakura. Off camera she switches to her ninja outfit to fight Zaki with not even Zaki knowing when Ibuki switched clothing.
Battle Outfit[]
![HDPVRPRO60 20200806 020834 019](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/5/51/HDPVRPRO60_20200806_020834_019.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/220?cb=20200808010733)
Ibuki's battle outfit is a more feminine ninja outfit than her historical brown default.
Ibuki's battle outfit is a purple one piece dress, smaller than her story mode outfit. Similar to her previous SFXT alternate costume in which she wears a kimono Ibuki has nature themed patterns printed on the outfit. In this case on her chest, the skirt, and the rump of the outfit. She has a giant lighter shade of purple ribbon tied around her waist that is knotted on her back. Similar to her historical default outfit Ibuki keeps her lower legs wrapped in tight wrappings meant to help stabilize her legs in battle and help prevent injury. Her feet instead are covered by the sandals she is wearing. As is tradition for most of Ibuki's ninja themed outfits this dress exposes her hips to arguably a higher degree than even her SFXT alternate outfit even when fully covering her.

View of Ibuki's ribbon and sword.
She wears cloth around her wrists that run into her hands, but instead of fully covering instead the cloth gets thinner and runs through her open palm and passes between her ring and middle finger, leaving her fingers gloveless similarly to many other of her outfits. Like her story outfit has an aesthetic purse Ibuki has a lightweight sword resting on her back. Like the purse this sword Ibuki has no access to during gameplay and doesn't affect her attacks nor any other action.

This outfit marks the first time Ibuki battles with a different hairstyle that isn't her traditional twin ponytail three front bang style.
![Unused outfit Ibuki](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/d/d7/Unused_outfit_Ibuki.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/100?cb=20200805003639)
This unused SFXT outfit might have been the base Capcom used for her SFV battle outfit, it even includes a sword.
Arguably the biggest standout for this outfit is Ibuki's hairstyle. For the very first time since the character was created Ibuki's hair is of a completely different style. Arguably the biggest deviation before this was in her SFXT "alternate" outfit where instead of wearing a band Ibuki's hair was weaved together at the base of her head using even more of her own natural hair. In this outfit it is allowed to be down at around armpit length. She also has hair in front of her head that rests in front of her shoulders. The hair that would be in front of her eyes is cut to allow better vision. However as Ibuki is known for having very long hair her excess hair is knotted at the side and top of her head. The bang of hair over her head has a yellow pinwheel attached to it and is then tied together by a white band and goes behind her head. She has two more bangs of hair running horizontally behind her head separately than the hair simply being let down. These two bangs then meet the bang on top of her head and all three are held by a different white band, these bangs then go down together with the rest of Ibuki's hair.
A frequent comment about this specific outfit is the fact that it makes Ibuki look even younger while she is wearing it, many people owing it to her new hairstyle. This is something even Capcom themselves admitted in their website in the comments about the outfit.

Ibuki's swimsuit color scheme is based off Strider Hiryu's own outfit and colors.
Similar to her own default outfit and many other female characters in fighting games that are meant to be cute Ibuki's swimsuit is based on a school uniform one. Interestingly Ibuki's school swimsuit is actually the more modest "skirted" kind that reveals less of the wearer's hips than the "competition" version more commonly seen. This version of the swimsuit is usually (but not always) worn by younger girls in Japan during earlier school years.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200807 225536 009](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/0/04/HDPVRPRO60_20200807_225536_009.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200808043353)
Ibuki's name is written on her chest.
As stated this outfit is based on Strider Hiryu thus the outfit is mostly blue with red accents. The swimsuit she is wearing is blue but has a white background on her chest so her name written in black can easily be seen. Her name on her chest is actually written in Japanese which makes sense as she goes to a Japanese civilian high school. Ibuki wears gloves that match her swimsuit's blue color and covers her entire wrist and all of her hands (though it ends mid fingers) ironically making her wear one of her longest gloves in a "fanservice" outfit. Her legs are mostly concealed in protective material also the same color of her swimsuit. The material ends at her feet making her barefoot. Both her gloves and feet have red ribbons tied to them.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200807 225558 011](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/7/71/HDPVRPRO60_20200807_225558_011.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200808044847)
Like many outfits of the era her swimsuit has her wearing a strap on her thigh holding Kunai.
To further tie this outfit to Strider Ibuki wears a red mask. This mask further extends into a red cape to copy the source material even more. As with her default outfit Ibuki wears a brown strap that holds spare Kunai (though this is only aesthetic). Her hair as usual remains her twin ponytail and three bang style she is known for this time the ponytails being held together at the base by a red hair band that matches the accents, cape, and mask of the rest of the outfit.

Ibuki wearing her school girl outfit.
Despite Ibuki's default being a ninja-ized school outfit, Ibuki has a dlc outfit that is a different kind of school outfit, and also accessorized with ninja decorations. Capcom's justification of this outfit is that it is much warmer than he default outfit would be even with the added ninja accessories, making it more useful for "training in the mountains" via Sgt Ashida in the C.R.I. and the reader would understand the difference if they wore her default compared to this outfit.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200807 225945 023](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/6/66/HDPVRPRO60_20200807_225945_023.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200811011211)
The end of Ibuki's cape, thigh strap with Kunai, long blue socks, and shoes on display in this outfit.
The overall color scheme of this outfit like her default one is blue, but while the default is overall brighter being white and a light blue hue this one is two different shades of dark blue with some small white details and red accessories. Ibuki wears a dark blue jacket, under this jacket she wears a similar white shirt that she wears in her default but it is much less visible due to her jacket being much longer and thicker than the light blue vest she wears over her shirt in her default but reveals a little bit of her upper sternum. She also wears a red scarf around her neck. Underneath the scarf as a substitute for the ribbon tied in front of her vest in her default she wears a crossover tie that rests on her chest.

Ibuki's gloves and hairband on display.
Keeping in line with the "warm" feel to this school outfit Ibuki also is masked, however unlike her default Ibuki doesn't remove it in the right context such as after a low HP round win or her win pose. Her gloves are also thicker than her default, being made of a leather red material that is thicker than her default's and covers all of her hand and the beginning of her fingers. Her hair band this time is of brown color.

Ibuki's skirt while still being dark blue, is a different shade. Her top is almost purple-like while the skirt more approaches black. The skirt has some light bluish outlines at the end. Her skirt is shorter than her default and more exposes her thigh strap that contains her spare kunai. Similar to her SFIV schoolgirl outfit Ibuki wears "bikeshorts" underwear that matches the color of her skirt that also provides a good degree of visual protection, more than her previous SFV outfits do. Somewhat oddly her thighs aside from her left thigh that has the strap for her kunai are completely exposed, not covered in any way from potential cold the outfit is "designed" to protect from. Her upper knees and feet have high socks of matching color to the skirt. Her shoes have a strap to keep them in place. Lastly Ibuki wears a long thin cape that falls well below tailbone length.

Ibuki's sporty outfit is based on a female track runner outfit.
The SFV sporty outfits were each released with occupations in mind. For Ibuki her occupation would be a track runner, thus this outfit is based on standard female track runner gear (albeit arguably a bit on the skimpy side). This outfit is easily the most revealing Ibuki has ever officially acquired, as previously her two most revealing were her SFXT alternate and her battle outfit that showed her hips to quite a degree by default. While this outfit mostly covers the area it shows the most of her skin than any other, including her swimsuit (interestingly this outfit is always mistaken for one).
Ibuki wears a form fitting top that has an overall green motif with green-bluish outlines. The shirt is sleeveless and on Ibuki's back shortens and is held up by two thin straps that run through the left and right side of her shoulders to be held up. The way her shirt is designed at the back reveals her shoulders and upper back to quite a noticeable degree. Noticeably even though this outfit is overall quite accurate it features Kunai printed throughout her clothes. On her shirt under her right shoulder is a kunai printed, another one is printed on the upper back cloth of her shirt, though it is often covered by her cape.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 025414 013](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/c/c0/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_025414_013.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200814012156)
Ibuki's race information and identification is written on her shirt.
Ibuki's shirt also has her racing information in the front. On her chest above the breast area her name is written in white under the same color of the rest of the shirt, written in Japanese. On her mid chest in the breast area the shirt is colored yellow. Her name is written in the yellow coloring, this time in black and the yellow background helps make her name much more visible then it would be in the default green scheme out the rest of her shirt. This time her name is written in English and the individual characters are rather large. Underneath the area her shirt is instead white and houses a black "5", which is presumably her number on the field. The relation is not known of why she is number 5 nor if it is just a random choice. The shirt reveals her shoulders and arms due to no sleeves and not covering as much going over her chest (though her chest is fully covered). Under her chest the shirt ends, revealing her midriff much more than any outfit before and also showing her navel in battle.

The details of Ibuki's fit bit always stay the same, including the time.
Ibuki wears accessories in this outfit. Her left arm houses a simple wrist band, her right one actually houses a much more interesting fit bit. Ibuki usually doesn't have electronics associated with her aside from her cell phone that appears frequently in her media and cut scenes. Her fit bit, while not noticeable in regular gameplay, actually has some details on it. The time is always "2:50 PM" and this doesn't change with the stage chosen nor time in real life. The stage chosen part is rather interesting by itself as most stages have a time associated with it, making this detail a contradiction.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 025541 017](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/c/cf/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_025541_017.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200814014319)
Ibuki's cape follows the same color scheme as her shorts but has a lighter shade of blue before the transition.
Like her swimsuit and school outfit she wears a cape and mask combo. The cape has it's own blue and blue green combo that also features white. The cape has cuts at the end to give the end "flaps" that move individually from the cape itself. Her mask extends to her shoulders covering areas that her shirt doesn't by default. The cape ends at the end of her thighs when she is standing upright.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 025351 011](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/e/e2/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_025351_011.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200814014534)
Ibuki's shorts like many other parts of the outfit have kunai printed on them.
Her shorts follow a similar color scheme to her shirt before the identification is shown. Her shorts are rather short and hug her figure. In the front and rump of the shorts a white stripe with a green-bluish transition between the green and white runs across. The shirts are not as low as the front and back on the hips and reveals a bit of the area, though not as much as her ninja outfits. On her hips on the cloth kunai are printed just like her shorts. While covering her hips more than her ninja outfits the outfit doesn't cover her backside 100%, leaving some exposed at the back. Her legs are fully exposed with no protection until her ankles where she wears short socks and her shoes over them.
![HDPVRPRO60 20200810 025832 025](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/6/65/HDPVRPRO60_20200810_025832_025.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20200814015020)
Ibuki's shoes have more details than the rest of her footwear in this outfit.
Interestingly, these shoes have quite a degree of detail. Her shoes have kunai printed on them across the side. They inverse the main color scheme of her shirt and skirt with a green-bluish color scheme and the main green color making the details. Underneath the shoes has quite a degree of dirt which is fitting due to their purpose and Ibuki's outfit (though no other part has dirt). The bottom of the shoes (especially the front part) are made specifically for gripping the ground Ibuki is standing on. This would help give her more traction and control of her step when sprinting while at the same time helping prevent injury.

Personality[]
Likely in the wake of the era which Street Fighter III debuted in, specifically that of the 1990s and the Lost Decade era of Japan, Ibuki comes to represent the youth generation gap within Japanese society, a tomboyish teenage ninja divided between traditional Japanese devotion to duty and the rise of a global liberated and outgoing youth culture in the wake of the rise of modern Information Age infrastructure. Even though Ibuki is a well-trained ninja, she displays traits typical a normal teenage girl in modern day society, stating on several occasions that she finds her ninja garments ugly and her daily training strange, while focusing more on enjoying life and being baffled at those who devote themselves to what they do. Despite this, she performs her role out of at least respect and to hopefully leave the way of the ninja peacefully in hopes of having a normal life. In turn, while she is with a sense of duty and responsibility and with striving determination for her own future, she comes across as somewhat shallow, vapid, and youthfully ignorant, with plenty of people noting she lacks focus as a ninja stemming from her not taking her role seriously, and with her not respecting at full what she was born into, the ways of the ninja included.
She has a typical interest in boys; in several of her win quotes in Super Street Fighter IV, she evaluates her opponents based on their looks, behavior, and clothing, as well as their fighting performance. She regards Guy in particular as quite a hunk, though she also complains about his non-traditional ninja garb. She has also shown slight interest in others like Blanka and Fei Long. Ibuki is also very conscious about her weight, as mentioned in her Street Fighter × Tekken win quote against Bob and her Arcade mode ending in Street Fighter V.
Ibuki seems to be well in touch with modern pop culture and self awareness. In Street Fighter × Tekken her winning quotes against some characters, especially those who come from Tekken, seem to reference memes or even her own faults. She references "Ninjas vs. Pirates" when defeating Jack-X, hints at Naruto when she defeats Lili, referencing hairstyles when defeating Paul Phoenix, and lastly references her own low stamina when defeating Marshall Law. Most recently keeping with the trend with sport outfits, with Sgt. Ashida from the Shadaloo C.R.I. commenting on this. Ibuki also seems to be familiar with live streaming, as her reaction when defeating G has her more surprised she wasn't told their fight was being streamed rather than the fact that it was streamed itself.
In Street Fighter V, Ibuki seems to take her ninja training more seriously (although her mirror match quote suggests she still finds it irksome), but still makes mistakes (such as almost falling off a cliff while talking on her cellphone, for example) and has many moments of not using her head. She is also glad to return home when her story mode is completed. She also seems to have a little bit more maturity and battle sense than her SF4-era self, as she can call out some characters like Sagat, although she still usually has her own bubbly win quotes. Her win quote against Kage displays some more serious and relatable insight to her outlook on her life, hoping to find a new path as a ninja than the more fatalistic traditions of being devoted living and dying by their ways that ninja are attributed to.
Noticeably in V, Ibuki has become less cutesy and smiles significantly less in battle. In IV Ibuki would smile during her regular stance and most attacks such as Neckbreaker and Yoroitoshi, however in V she only smiles during her taunt and Idle Pose. This is most notable in attacks she has in both IV and V. Most of Ibuki's smiling and looking bubbly facial expressions have been replaced with her looking more serious and determined during her attacks.
In the Street Fighter III series, Alex is the only "boy" Ibuki has shown anything resembling a hint of attraction to; however, though she calls him a "macho stud" in a win quote, she is mainly expressing her disappointment in his loss of "power instinct".
In-universe, it seems she is not taken too seriously as a fighter (although not to the extent of Dan). Many characters tend to mention how she lacks some attributes. Chun-Li and Ken say that she needs to be more focused, Kolin tells her that their fights aren't even noteworthy, Balrog doesn't take her seriously during pre and post fight interactions, and Kazuya Mishima straight up telling her that she is the worst ninja he has ever faced. One of the most notable insults might be from Seth, who in both his appearances considers nothing of Ibuki's moveset to be useful. The only characters who do not verbally accost her are characters who are on the nicer end (i.e. Menat, Elena and Karin).

Ibuki learning Yoroitoshi in her battle against Oro in Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki.
Ibuki meets Karin after the latter stops Birdie from further harassing Ibuki.
When Sakura calls Ibuki to fill in for the event Karin is hosting, Ibuki accepts. Ibuki heads to the Kanzuki Estate and after brawling with Birdie, meets Karin. Karin politely greets Ibuki and challenges her to a match. Afterwards, Ibuki watches a match between two teams composed of R. Mika and Zangief taking on Laura and Alex. During the match, Karin's screen goes out. Ibuki helps Karin as she angrily leaves, with the latter eventually hiring Ibuki in due time. The next day, Ibuki and R. Mika go with Karin to the Shadaloo base. After defeating Balrog, they give Karin a chess piece which is connected with Shadaloo's latest plan of world domination. Interestingly, Karin specifically told Ibuki she can get into the escape helicopter when it arrived after being attacked by Abel, implying Karin both cares for Ibuki and has a high degree for Ibuki's rather easily startled personality. Ibuki was last seen with Karin waiting for Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile to come out of the Shadaloo base.

Ibuki and R. Mika in disagreement
Though they never fought, R. Mika and Ibuki usually argue when they see each other, as seen in the latter's character story. R. Mika considers Ibuki to be rude for not listening to her "wonderful" speech about "muscle spirit". On the other hand, Ibuki considers R. Mika to be bossy because what she says is demanding and boring. In SFV, they seem to have developed a sister-like bonding with R. Mika treating Ibuki as a younger sister of sorts. When Ibuki saves R. Mika from an attacking soldier, R. Mika steps in front of Ibuki without hesitation to take the full brunt of the hit. Whenever Ibuki sees R. Mika bragging about how awesome Zangief is, she thinks that it is gross, despite the fact that Ibuki herself often seeks romance.

Ibuki teaching Guy her first Ninjitsu ninja lesson.
The two seem to be rivals of sorts. In Pocket Fighter, Ibuki refers to Guy as being from "a rival ninja clan". In her win quotes against Guy, Ibuki displays fondness to Guy but complains about his looks, telling that his outfit does not look like that of a ninja.
In Super Street Fighter IV they both appear together in a promotional trailer.
In the minicomic "Final Forest Fighter" Ibuki's master Sanjou sets up a fight between Ibuki and Guy. Guy initially has the upper hand but Ibuki suddenly bests Guy in hand to hand combat with Ibuki later stating that the first Ibuki ninja lesson is to always fight harder in front of your friends in which various Tanuki alongside one implied to be her own pet tanuki Don-Chan are shown to be watching afterwards.
Ibuki meeting Zeku
When Ibuki first meets Zeku in his younger form, she found him to be handsome. He offers her a chance to join his group. After fighting Zeku, he shows his elderly form, much to Ibuki's disappointment, and she turns down his offer.
In Zeku's arcade ending he defeats Karin and she agrees to join his new ninja group along with some of her employs, Ibuki included. It is shown that Birdie and Karin have both become ninjas with weapons, while Ibuki was already a ninja and her weapon still remained a Kunai. It is currently unknown how this allegiance affects her standing with the Glade of Ninjas.
Ibuki's relationship with Birdie is a little hard to pinpoint. They had a rather hostile first meeting, with Birdie attacking her due to her coming in a suspicious manner. After their fight, Ibuki seemed not to take lightly when Birdie commented that "someone like her" does not get invited to Karin's party.
Ibuki and Biride's first interaction, Birdie attacked her due to her running on the top of building and thought she was suspicious.
During the events of A Shadow Falls, Ibuki and Birdie seem to be able to at least work together in a professional workplace. In their scenes together, they are shown to be at least highly tolerant of each other, Ibuki herself seeming more irritated that she found the party boring rather than having to be with Birdie, and both being with each other in Karin's helicopter. It should be noted that only Ibuki and Birdie found the concept of being ninjas for Zeku ridiculous in his Arcade ending.
Both of their win quotes against each other still suggest animosity, with Ibuki telling him to work on his table manners due to the way that he eats (which is ironic in a way as Ibuki's own skill is said to be big eater), and Birdie commenting his intention to tie her up for seemingly no reason. Though in Biride's win quote against Zeku, he says that Ibuki has shown him some of her ninja gear (specifically her field rations, which he doesn't like), something that she rarely does based on her win quotes against other characters.

Ibuki taking a "stealfie" with Elena
Similarly to Makoto, most of Ibuki's interaction with Elena comes from side media. In the games their only one on one interaction is in Second Impact where in their rival battles Ibuki comments on Elena's long legs.
In the comics, although non-canon, Elena seems to be an older sister figure to Ibuki, helping her train and giving her moral support. This was most evident when Ibuki was feeling sad after finding out she had to defeat Oro one on one. Elena also tries to keep Makoto from taking her criticism of Ibuki's faults too far. Elena also seems to be very tolerant of Ibuki's playful antics. While Makoto doesn't take kindly to Ibuki's ninja antics Elena is shown to not get angry at antics like the "Stealfie" (Ibuki appearing out of nowhere to take a selfie while the person she also has in frame has no time to react).

As shown in Street Fighter III era supplemental non-canon story "Case Closed" Q interfered in a retrieval job assigned to Ibuki. Ibuki was assigned to retrieve a briefcase with potential (yet unnamed) sensitive information, and Q was able to run away with the briefcase after Ibuki accidentally broke the handcuff holding the briefcase and carrier together with a Kasumi Suzaku Kunai.
Afterwards Ibuki's Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) was lowered by the Glade of Ninjas and she was also assigned to recover the briefcase's contents by the Glade.
Ibuki with Sarai after school.
Sarai Kurosawa is the best friend of Ibuki who attends the same school for ninjas. Their friendship differs quite a bit in the game lore and UDON due to differences in how Sarai is handled.
In either lore Sarai is very similar in function to Ibuki as Kei Chitose does Sakura, both being best friends of each respective girl. In the games Sarai is also a ninja from the Glade of Ninjas. It is shown Sarai is willing to lie to "cover" for Ibuki as Ibuki sneaks out of camp.

Sarai with Ibuki
In the UDON lore Sarai isn't a ninja initially and doesn't even have any combat ability, furthering the parallels of herself and Kei with their respective friends. Sarai shows concern for Ibuki when she goes to meet Makoto while Makoto openly wants to fight Ibuki, asking if Ibuki has her ninja family to help against Makoto and even asking Ibuki if she should call the police. Despite being a normal girl from the start Sarai is shown to be aware of Ibuki's ninja status. Later Sarai shows insecurities as Ibuki starts hanging out more with Makoto and Elena thinking they have a club between themselves as 3 female fighters leaving Sarai out causing Sarai to stop communicating with Ibuki temporarily.
Later both Sarai and Ibuki reconcile with Ibuki even offers to have Sarai be trained as a ninja herself by the Glade of Ninjas. Sarai, albiet with assistance mostly from Elena, is shown to care about Ibuki enough to accompany her for her match against Oro and despite not helping combat wise against the Geki clan's attack against the Glade of Ninjas she is said afterwards to have helped out in putting out fires. It is shown at the end of the Legends comic that Sarai did accept Ibuki's offer and she is being trained as a ninja watching Ibuki and Makoto's fight at the end without anyone noticing.
Sarai is shown later in the Back To School special comic not only being friends with Ibuki still but also Makoto and Elena. In this comic she actually appears with her counterpart Kei both speaking about the progress of both of their friends (Ibuki for Sarai and Sakura for Kei) talking about both girls how similar they are. Sarai and Kei are shown to play peace keepers in the fight between the Street Fighter girls in which both Ibuki and Sakura are part of alongside Karin and the Rival Schools girls of Akira, Zaki and Yurika. Notably neither girl showed preferential treatment towards their respective friend.
It is worth noting that in the UDON comic it appears Sarai is younger than Ibuki as by the time of the comic while Ibuki is a University student Sarai alongside Makoto and Elena are still in High School while even Kei seems to be past that part of her life. It isn't shown if this detail is true in the game lore.

Ibuki holding no ill will after losing to Akira
Ibuki, when it comes to the game lore, appears to be in good but not any sort of special terms with Akira Kazama. After Ibuki mistakes Akira to be a male she attempts to inform "him" that there will be an all girls tea party and he can't come in. Both Akira and Ibuki fight with Akira seemingly getting the upper hand but afterwards Ibuki appears to bear no ill will to the still presumed Akira. After this Ibuki takes more of a "sane person" role alongside Akira compared to Karin and Sakura's more eccentric antics. Ibuki is the one most calm and able to explain Karin's rather odd mannerisms to Akira. Ibuki is shown alongside Sakura, Karin and Akira when they go to the beach alongside other Rival School girls

Ibuki is a young girl from Japan who lives in a village entirely composed of ninjas, hidden from society's watchful eyes, where she has trained in the deadly art of ninjutsu since childhood. After doing the same routine everyday and attending a school for ninjas, she wishes to live like a normal schoolgirl. Her best friend is her classmate, Sarai. Ibuki also has a pet tanuki named Don, who is often referred to as "Don-Chan".

Ibuki sneaks away from her clan's summer training camp to compete in S.I.N's tournament, in order to meet cool and handsome guys. When the tournament is over, she realizes that she is going to be late for camp and attempts to sneak back in as if nothing had happened. However, she is caught by one of the camp's instructors.[5]
Street Fighter V[]

Ibuki is seen at the Kanzuki Estate with Birdie, watching a tag team match between Zangief and R. Mika against Alex and Laura. The screen suddenly shuts off, a result of the electromagnetic pulse caused by Shadaloo's Black Moons. Karin decides to travel to New York to find out who is responsible for the activation of the Black Moons, and Ibuki goes with her.
After returning to the Kanzuki Estate, Ibuki is seen having an argument with R. Mika, while Karin and Cammy discuss the plan to stop Shadaloo. The estate is suddenly attacked by Shadaloo agents, among them Decapre and Marz. After defeating them, Karin threatens Ibuki and Mika with the same punishment unless they stop fighting.
During the first infiltration of the Shadaloo base, Ibuki and R. Mika continue to argue, until they are confronted by Balrog and Ed, who managed to get one of the chess pieces that control the Black Moons from Zangief. Ibuki is the first to fight Balrog, her ninjutsu skills are not sufficient to beat him. Mika then engages him, but she also fails. The two then team up and succeed in overpowering him. Ed tries to use his Psycho Power to stop them, and Ibuki uses a smoke bomb to distract both of them. She and Mika take the chess piece and escape, finally being reunited with Karin and her butler, Shibasaki. Karin takes the chess piece and goes on ahead, while Ibuki and R. Mika wait for the rescue helicopter to arrive. Karin returns with Chun-Li, and both are being chased by Abel, who has been brainwashed by Bison's Psycho Power. Zangief appears and knocks Abel out with a Spinning Piledriver, then proudly flexes his muscles. Ibuki is disgusted, yet Mika is amazed.
In the final assault against Shadaloo, Ibuki is hesitant about jumping out of a helicopter, as she is afraid of heights. Nevertheless, Dhalsim pushes her out. During the mission, Ibuki and Mika fight off Shadaloo soldiers, and they watch Zangief's fight against Satsuki. Ibuki becomes worried and tells Zangief to watch out for Satsuki's sword, but to her surprise, the blade shatters when it hits Zangief's muscles. Ibuki is last seen with the other fighters, watching Shadaloo's destruction.
Street Fighter III series[]
2nd Impact[]
Later in 2nd Impact, Ibuki was sent by her clan to procure documents from Gill's organization. These documents concern the "G-File" project, which was responsible for creating Necro (before he ran away from the organization) and Twelve. Gill voluntarily gave Ibuki the documents after she defeated him, though the project was already underway by that point.
Ibuki in her 2nd impact ending.
In her ending, Ibuki and Don are laying on the grass, the former thinks about the time she was given the G-Files by Gill. Ibuki suddenly sense someone's presence and throws her kunais at the person, who turns out to be just Sarai, who blocks it with her school bag. Sarai scolds Ibuki for ruining her school bag, Ibuki apologizes.
3rd Strike[]
In 3rd Strike, Ibuki tracks down Oro to fight him for her ninja graduation exam. She fights well enough to pass, and moves on to go to university.
Ibuki in her Third Strike ending.
In her ending, Ibuki is excited to make it in Sarusuberi University after a lifetime of training. She explores the campuses, meeting new friends as well as the cool upperclassman in college who convinces her to join his club. However, much to her dismay, the club that she joins turns out to be a hard and dangerous ninja training club. The upperclassman holds her at kunai-point as he warns Ibuki about her carelessness and laughs at her "love and excitement" of studying Ninjutsu, much to Ibuki's disappointment.
Crossover appearances[]
Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix[]
Ibuki battling Ryu in Gem Fighter. Here she has one of the standard evil disguises that most characters in the game use during some of their attacks.
Ibuki appeared as a playable character in Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (also known as Pocket Fighter). Ibuki decides to leave her village for a while, and quietly departs for a trip to a big city, and along the way, she challenges Sakura for the knowledge of the closest ice cream shop. After learning the location of the closest ice cream shop from Sakura after their battle, Ibuki while musing happily about what she wanted to get next, she spots Guy, thinking that he is a spy from another clan, and declares a challenge from him. Guy then tells her to calm down for a second, and gives Ibuki a baked potato. While Ibuki is distracted by the baked potato, Guy tells her that he has errands to run for his master and sneaks away, as Ibuki had now forgotten what she was going to do.
Street Fighter X Tekken[]
Ibuki in Street Fighter X Tekken.
Ibuki appeared as a playable character in Street Fighter X Tekken where she is partnered with Rolento, who had sent a request to her village for someone skilled in fighting and infiltration in his search for the Pandora artifact. Due to Rolento's constant orders which she follows reluctantly, Ibuki does not particularly get along well with her new partner, despite the military titles he bestows on her as their story progresses. It is later revealed that Rolento was able to extend his contract to have Ibuki work for him without her knowing about it.
Asuka Kazama's Swap Costume Bio states she is learning how to be a ninja from Ibuki
The Swap Costume of Tekken character Asuka Kazama is based on Ibuki's design. The in game explanation is that Asuka decided to learn how to be a ninja and Ibuki became her teacher, which, is a contradiction of sorts considering Asuka's win quote against Ibuki herself.
The outfit itself is a more revealing version of Ibuki's default, exposing Asuka's midriff as well as a top portion of her breast. Like Ibuki's version Asuka's also shows it's wearer's hips (though to a less degree than Ibuki's). Asuka has much longer bands than Ibuki on her arms and similar glove style. Asuka's bottoms of her ninja out cut out earlier than Ibuki's and has banding similar to her arms with her ankles wrapped up for protection just like Ibuki's. Asuka's color scheme is much brighter with a blue main focus (mirroring her own default outfit scheme) compared to Ibuki's clay brown, though this would make Asuka's outfit much less practical for actual missions compared to Ibuki's. Lastly, Asuka's forehead is wrapped up, possibly to imitate Ibuki's hairstyle, which isn't that long around her head, and Asuka wears a mask similar to Ibuki. Asuka doesn't remove this mask during any time she is wearing it, while Ibuki removes hers during some actions.

One of Yoshimitsu's unused Ibuki themed outfits.
An unused outfit for Yoshimitsu shows that his originally planned swap partner was meant to be Ibuki. He has two outfits based on her that were not put into the game. The first has Yoshimitsu wearing a similar brown ninja outfit to Ibuki. He wears a black bodysuit underneath as to cover up the areas Ibuki normally shows in her outfit such as her hips. Instead of being barefoot in one he wears sandals and extra footwear and has a tanuki tail as how Ibuki tends to accessorize some of her outfits. Yoshimitsu wears a mask as he usually does and dons a similar hairstyle to Ibuki albeit shorter.
The second version sees Yoshimitsu wearing shoulder armor (something Ibuki herself is opposed to judging by one of her character titles "Armor Is For Wimps") a unique mask and red hair that doesn't resemble Ibuki's. He wears a white bodysuit with red accents that also show in the open hip slits of the outfit. He also wears footwear in this version.
Comics[]
UDON comics[]
Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki[]
UDON Entertainment released a four-volume mini-series based on Ibuki and her storyline in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, where she is rivals with Makoto. Each volume was also collected into a single book for UDON's Street Fighter Legends series. She appears in volume 3 of this series, preceded by Chun-Li and Sakura.
Street Fighter Super Combo Special[]
In the Street Fighter Super Combo Special that came out in "Free Comic Book Day", Ibuki appears as part of two fights, one with Crimson Viper and the other with Ryu.
![20190112 142041](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/7/72/20190112_142041.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20190112213450)
Ibuki after cutting off C. Viper's ponytail pondering about her own hair before her fight against Ryu.
After C. Viper defeated Guile in an earlier battle, she is seen in a forest saying that she (Viper) has lost track of her opponent. Her opponent turns out to be Ibuki after the ninja throws a Kunai that disables most of Viper's more advanced weaponry. During the battle Viper is having trouble locating her more nimble opponent and almost strikes Don-chan, who Ibuki used as a distraction to strike Viper from behind. After Ibuki proclaims that "ninjas get to use every dirty trick in the book" she teases cutting Viper from point blank range with her Kunai but instead proceeds to cut off Viper's ponytail, somewhat ironically mentioning how ponytails are a liability and she should cut her own before leaving for her next battle.
Ibuki's next battle is against the more experienced Ryu. Ibuki states that she hasn't been able to get a hit on Ryu and all she has been able to do is avoid his attacks (though the same could be said for Ryu at this point). Ryu does a Hadouken that was meant to miss but open Ibuki for a kick to the head. After Ibuki is knocked out and helped out of the ring by Makoto Ryu proclaims that he doesn't usually use Hadouken against a young fighter but he couldn't find a way to hit her otherwise. The comic ends after Ken in the same ring challenges Ryu in a battle that the winner is not shown.
Street Fighter Unlimited[]
Ibuki appears in volume 3 and 7 of Street Fighter Unlimited. Her appearances are mostly inconsequential and more for comedy and entertainment. She appears on Gill's island with Elena and Makoto as they both fight against Gill to foil his plains of world domination with many other fighters.
Some Wisdom[]
![20190110 170904](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/9/92/20190110_170904.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/146?cb=20190111001627)
Ibuki battling Karin in Some Wisdom.
Ibuki appears in the Street Fighter Unlimited issue three side story titled "Some Wisdom". Karin Kanzuki wants to prove her family's fighting style and skill against Ibuki because of the latter's upbringing in the Glade of Ninjas. Ibuki explains to the determined Kain that a single fight would not prove anything in terms of who is overall superior combatant and admits Karin is probably the superior fighter.
Their fight goes into traffic with both girls jumping on car roof tops, even on one situation going inside cars through their open windows. The fight ends after Karin heeds Ibuki's words and suggest that the best way to root out any possibility of luck is for them to fight an absurd number of times in a row, much to Ibuki's annoyance, ending the mini series.
Street Fighter Unlimited Volume #7[]

In volume number seven Elena is shown battling Dee Jay, while they both engaging in dialog about their dancing styles Ibuki jumped on Elena's back for a "Stealfie", a ninja selfie. Ibuki and Makoto ask Elena if they could also battle Dee Jay, Elena agrees but looks a little visibly disappointed. In this scene Ibuki is wearing a re-colored version of her Street Fighter IV casual outfit rather than her usual ninja garb or her schoolgirl outfit in "Some Wisdom"
Dee Jay then proclaims "fighting?, I won't have none of that" and instead sets up speakers and plays music, Elena and Ibuki both start dancing immediately while Makoto initially refuses until she is called a "wall flower" by Ibuki. Later Yun and Yang are seen passing by and Ibuki challenges them by calling them "Double Dragons" and telling them to show everyone their dance moves. They are eventually joined by other characters such as Zangief, Rufus, Karin, and E. Honda.

Ibuki is one of Guile's backup alongside Mika and Zangief when he correctly predicted Balrog would have his own reinforcements in Vega and Decapre. She assists Guile in his mission to prevent M. Bison in finding the limited edition Loot Crate, which the comic was exclusively created for and the service seemingly exist within the context of the comic with actual employees and their like-ness being shown within the artwork, that has what Bison needs for his plan to succeed.

When Balrog's reinforcements arrive each of Guile's backup has a one on one battle with one of Balrog's allies with Zangief taking on Balrog himself, Mika taking on Vega, and Ibuki herself battling Decapre. After Decapre taunts Ibuki for using weapons at her young age Ibuki manages to defeat Decapre with a Yoroitoshi. Ibuki later is seen regrouping with Guile and the rest of his crew and is the first to ask Guile who the mysterious pink haired woman who claims to have what he wants and also inexplicitly has Dan in tow was when he acquired an unsolicited call from her. Ibuki then is seen dodging an projectile launched by M. Bison himself and Bison starts taunting Guile's crew how he now found the specific Lootcrate box that has specifically what he is looking for but then finds the box he is holding to be empty. Just before Guile could engage Bison the crew watch Charlie Nash suddenly appear and defeat Bison who then leaves with an ominous threat to Guile himself. The comic ends with a "To Be Continued"
Street Fighter: Back To School Special[]

Ibuki advertising Sarusubere University at Atago Gongen High School.
Ibuki's role and story in Back To School Special takes place after the events of her own comic. She is now a University student out of high school and her physical growth/appearance compared to her legends appearance reflects this. Somewhat ironically in this comic she is the one advertising Sarusubere University hiding it's true nature as a ninja university when the very same action was done to her in her own comic.
![Ibuki vs Zaki 2](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/3/36/Ibuki_vs_Zaki_2.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20210822073805)
Ibuki gaining the upper hand against Zaki from Rival Schools in battle.
Elena and Makoto after finishing their match decide to go to the College Fair as they heard Ibuki would be there presenting. Similar to Ibuki in her own comic now Makoto and Elena are looking for future options. After hearing about the Kanzuki School of Business from Karin and Tamagawa Kita College from Sakura Ibuki hears them considering both options. Ibuki then attempts to entice her friends to Sarusubere University with Makoto interrupting Ibuki almost revealing the University's true nature as a hidden ninja training place.
As Ibuki continues talking she suddenly gets hit in the face by a promotional ad for Seijyun Girls University. It was revealed that Akira, Yurika Kirishima and Zaki from Rival Schools were the ones behind the unauthorized advertisement. The Rival School girls start to appeal to Makoto and Elena about what their university appeals to but Ibuki, Karin and Sakura all point out there are there in an unauthorized manner as the three Street Fighter presenters got permission from Agato Gongen High School to be there while the Rival School equivalents are interrupting the authorized presenters. After Sarai is shown talking with Kei Chitose about their respective fighting friend a fight is shown between the Street Fighter and Rival School ladies with Sarai, Makoto, Elena and Kei spectating. Ibuki herself battled Zaki, displaying ninja skills she didn't utilize in her own comic while she was in high school to gain the upper-hand on Zaki and Zaki coming up with the nickname "toothpick" for Ibuki. The fight later ends when Kei and Sarai point out Elena and Makoto lost interest in all the potential futures each girl was offering in favor for Dan's C.W.A. Wrestling Trainee Program.
Gameplay[]
Fighting style[]
As a ninja, Ibuki is skilled in ninjutsu; specifically its curriculum of martial arts. Unlike Guy, her style emphasizes a more traditional depiction, like that of ninjutsu found in the regions of Iga and Koga, utilizing kicks, grabs, speed, agility and accuracy for an aggressive and deadly approach. Somewhat interestingly, Ibuki is the only playable character who uses pure ninjutsu (as others such as Vega use only elements of the art).
Ibuki has many mobility options and pre-SFV had many anti projectile options like EX Neckbreaker. She tends to have many multi hitting attacks. While she generally does below average damage a player with good execution can do multiple 1 frame in a combo to match most of the cast. Her Raida tends to have unique properties, being immune to command throws in the IV series, being the only 2 frame non super special in Street Fighter X Tekken, and having anti back technical mechanics of command grabs despite it's hitbox being classified as a strike.
As a trade-off for her advantages she has been a rather frail character throughout her Street Fighter existence. She is usually around the 900 HP mark, 100 less than average.
Moveset[]
Ibuki's fighting style is characterized by her speed and agility. Several of her special moves are useful in both closing distance and evading her foe and/or their attacks: her Hien, for example, is capable of letting her jump over most projectiles while following up with a vaulting kick, and her Kasumi Gake can allow her to pass through opponents entirely, giving her the potential to set up confusing cross-ups (or the potential to just confuse in general). While she may not be as strong as other characters, Ibuki's attacks hit fast, and possesses a multitude of Target Combos that give her various extensions and conversions off many stray attacks.
Though Ibuki has many options in her mixups and gameplan, they are all designed for extremely specific purposes, forcing Ibuki to vary her approach and respond to her opponents just as she would to them. Effective Ibuki play requires full knowledge of the opponent's capabilities and quick reactions, as an incorrect response could easily lead to her taking massive damage from a punish.
In Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, Ibuki retains all of her Street Fighter III moves and some of her special attacks like the Kunai and her Kasumi Suzaku Super Combo when she diguises as Rolento. Her unique special attack is when she smacks her opponent in two kicks. She has the most disguise forms than the rest of the characters with a total of seven disguises (Eg. Kendo student, a Japanese marker where she could paint the opponent in black, a Bushido, Traditional Japanese singer, a Japanese magician to make a tornado spin on her opponents, a penguin suit and cosplaying as Rolento). One of her Mighty Combos has her disguise as a Bushido to slash her opponent in one strike to deal heavy damage. If her opponents are obliterated with this move an ocean wave background will be seen. She also wears her casual outfit from one of her Street Fighter III win animations but it was a short sleeved shirt than a sleeveless shirt from her ending while meeting with Guy.
In Street Fighter V, Ibuki exchanges various tools in favor of new ones altogether. Most notably, her Kunai has been changed to give her an ammunition counter, with a total of six kunai before she has to reload, though in exchange she can not only use it on the ground, but even throw all of them at once using Kunai Ikkinage. Her V-Skills and V-Triggers utilize new techniques and tools to further mixup her opponent. Tenrai is a palm blast that lets Ibuki poke the opponent from a distance, while Makibishi gives Ibuki a trap that helps her side-switch mixups. Rokushaku Horokudama and Fuma Shuriken both work as delayed projectiles that Ibuki can use to trick her opponents, either using the former's variable fuses or the latter's returning trajectory. Her Critical Art is the Kachofugetsu as she trips her opponent with a low sweep while launching them in mid air with a straight kick similar to her Hashinsho Ultra Combo as she teleports while doing ninja hand signs to culminate a burst of blue energy on her left palm similar to her Yoroitoshi Super Art to wipe out her opponent's skull in a deadly explosion.

- Ibuki is so far the only Street Fighter III character to have appeared playable both in Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V.
- Ibuki's school uniform was well-liked by Capcom producer Hideaki Itsuno; he used the same school uniform design for Rival Schools character Hinata Wakaba.[9]
- The similarity is noted by Akira when she defeats Ibuki in V, noting the similarities of Taiyo High School and Atago Gongen High School uniform for girls.
- In Pocket Fighter, when Ibuki throws her kunai, her outfit changes to that of Rolento from Final Fight, referencing his Stinger. Also, what she throws during her Kasumi Suzaku Super Combo depends on what level it is at. She will throw a kunai (lvl. 1), a shuriken (lvl. 2), or a tanuki statue (lvl. 3).
- Rolento would go on to become her tag partner in Street Fighter X Tekken.
- Ibuki's storyline in Super Street Fighter IV appears to be derived from her appearance in Pocket Fighter, where she sneaks away from her ninja training to look for an ice cream shop. She also encounters Sakura in her rival battle and asks for directions.
- Furthermore, her win quote against Sakura in Street Fighter V has Ibuki asking Sakura if they can get a dessert. Possibly a reference to Pocket Fighter also.
- Ibuki was originally planned to be a playable character in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (alongside Charlie Nash and M. Bison), but wasn't included due to time constraints.[10]
- Ibuki's 2nd alternate costume for Super Street Fighter IV is based on the clothes she wears during a certain win pose in the Street Fighter III games.[11]
- Ibuki and Hokuto from Street Fighter EX are both voiced by Yuri Amano.
- Her purple side-tie dress from her second alternate costume in Street Fighter V bears a resemblance to Kunimitsu's outfit in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
- Yoshimitsu also confuses Ibuki for Kunimitsu when he defeats her in Street Fighter X Tekken.
- The fifteenth color palette[12] of Ibuki's story outfit in Street Fighter V is based on and inspired by Roll from the Mega Man series. This trait is also shared with Karin's second color pallet of her own Story Outfit.
- It also has a resemblance to Jessica from the Final Fight series.
- Ibuki's 15h color pallete[13] of her battle outfit is based off Sakura Haruno from the Naruto manga and anime franchise and the 9th[14] color pallet of her default outfit in Street Fighter IV is a reference to Naruto Uzumaki, the lead character of the Naruto series.
- Based on her generic win quotes, Ibuki's favorite junk food is cake.
- Ibuki's default swimsuit color palette is a reference to Strider.
- She has the most target combos out of any character in the Street Fighter IV games.
- Furthermore, with the Addition of Target Combo 10 in Arcade Edition, Ibuki is the first (and so far only) character who has reached double digit number of usable target combos.
- While many Tekken characters have more sequence attacks than Ibuki in Street Fighter X Tekken, those are not Target Combos, making Ibuki the character with the most Target Combos in said game too.
- Street Fighter V is her first appearance where she has an Idle Pose.
- Also as part of her Unique Tag Introduction, Ibuki is the only character who breaks the fourth wall, looking at the player when she is doubtful of her team with Rolento.
- Ibuki's official character select sprite in Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix has an error where she has two strands of hair on the front of her head and three ponytails when it is usually the other way around. This error isn't present in battle however.
- Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix is also Ibuki's only appearance where Yamikazura isn't part of her throws.
- Ibuki's back throw has been different in each of her main series appearances to date.
- Specifically in the III games her back throw was a reused Yamikazura, in IV it was Uki Yami, and finally in V it re purposes her Neck Breaker animation.
- Furthermore her back throws in both of her non canon fighting game appearances Gem Fighter and SFXT are different. In Gem Fighter she didn't have one and in SFXT she reuses Uki Yami from IV.
- Specifically in the III games her back throw was a reused Yamikazura, in IV it was Uki Yami, and finally in V it re purposes her Neck Breaker animation.
- Ibuki's cell phone appears to be a little anachronistic, in her comic which takes place during the SFIII arc her phone is portrayed as a pink flip phone (which was accurate during the time thoses games were released) but in her SFV story mode which takes place before the III arc her phone is a smart phone.
- Ibuki's UFS card "Waste Not" is based on her taunt in the SFIII games.
- Due to her voice actress Ayumi Fujimura going on indefinite hiatus during Street Fighter V, Ibuki's voice actress was changed for her appearance in Akira's story mode to Kana Ueda. Notably, this also occurred for her English voice actress Kat Steel in spite of recording new lines for later seasons, changing to Cristina Valenzuela. The reason for the change is unknown. Cristina Valenzuela also voices Enero in the same game.
- She also shares the same fighting style as SNK's Andy Bogard, who also uses Koppōjutsu.
- The steam achievement "Iconoclast" for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition uses Ibuki's icon and her manner of speech. Within it she has a reference to the Pokemon franchise.
