beta culture

(1) Releasing hardware or software to the marketplace that has gone through only the beta testing phase in order to get the product out more quickly. See beta test.

(2) Releasing hardware or software to the marketplace that has only basic features, hoping users will identify what is missing. See beta test.

(3) Releasing a beta version of software to the general public in order to receive substantial feedback before the final version debuts. See beta version.
