Location:Bear Island; 4.5 miles west of Swansboro off NC 24 on State Road 1511. Accessible only by boat; park operates passenger ferry from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Facilities:14 primitive campsites, 3 primitive group camps, picnic area, trails, canoe trail, bathhouse, concession stand (open during summer).
Activities:Camping, boating, surf fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, nature programs.
Special Features:Undeveloped barrier island with dunes as tall as 60 feet. Park includes 3.5 miles of ocean beach, maritime forests, salt marshes, and tidal creeks.
