Bear Lake State Park
Location:In southeastern Idaho, 20 miles south of Montpelier.
Facilities:48 campsites, including standard campsites (some with electricity), 1 primitive group camp, and 2 group camps with water and electricity; group picnic shelter; boat ramp, beaches, volleyball area.
Activities:Camping, swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park is located in a high mountain valley in the southeast corner of Idaho. Bear Lake is 20 miles long and 8 miles wide, with half of the lake in Idaho and half in Utah. In summer the lake draws water sports enthusiasts, and in winter visitors to the park can snowmobile or fish for the Bonneville cisco, which is found nowhere else on earth. Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located adjacent to the park (see entry in national wildlife refuges section).

Facilities:178 campsites, 6 primitive campgrounds at Eastside unit, group camps, cabins, showers, modern restrooms (é), vault toilets, picnic areas, group pavilion, food concession, visitor center, swimming beach, marina, boat launch, boat rentals.

Special Features:Bear Lake is a natural lake, 20 miles long, 8 miles wide, 200 feet deep, and covering 112 square miles. Its unique aqua-blue color is the result of calcium carbonates suspended in the lake. Cisco Beach, on Bear Lake's east side, is famous for mid-winter fishing for the 7-inch Bonneville Cisco. For a week in January, swarms of the little fish come close to the shore to spawn. Additionally, Cisco Beach’s rocky bottom and steep drop-off close to shore make it a favorite of divers. Two designated diving areas have wooden walkways to assist divers and their gear into the water.
