[edit]

Hello guys, just to tell you that The Indian National Congress has now a total of 100 members of parliament in 2024 election due to extended support from Vishal Patil, who won the MP election 2024 from Sangli seat of Maharashtra. You can check here: (https://www.millenniumpost.in/big-stories/congress-hits-100-mark-whats-next-for-the-party-566968) X= seats2 = 99 Y= seats2 = 100 "please change X to Y" Rapidn (talk) 15:18, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The sub-totals in the results table are incorrect. The change for INDIA should be +114 (it says +143). AnshJuneja (talk) 02:47, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Garsh (talk) 00:22, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Number of votes

[edit]

Alliance percentage 42.5% 40.6% Popular vote 235,973,935 136,759,064 2% difference has lead to nearly 100 million difference? India's population must be 50 billion in that case

also could TMC be included in the map under INDIA, TMC is now considering itself a member but i can understand why it might be given another colour LostCitrationHunter (talk) 14:45, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kashmir candidates for NDA

[edit]

The article says that analysts and opposition parties have claimed that the NDA alliance has not fielded any candidates because the abrogation of 370 hasn't gone well with people, however the citated BBC article only mentions one singluar analyst. The opposition has also said that they are supporting the PC and Apni Party in the elections and have called them their proxies. The article also goes on to say that the BJP workers in the Kashmir region have increased in the past few years. Further on in the article, the state BJP president has also said the same.

The two parts of the article are presented as two sides of claims, I think both of them should be included for WP:NPOV as "all the significant views" in the BBC article have not been included in the wikipedia page. Xoocit (talk) 10:10, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The existing paragraph doesn't strike me as needed additional POV balance. Whats the 'other side' here? We can add a statement saying 'Despite not having a formal candidate, BJP maintains a presence in the region through their support of local parties (including PC and Apni Party)' But is that really WP:DUE in the section on BJP candidates? Thanks for participating in the discussion.
The other side I am referring to are the statements by the opposition parties that BJP is a using proxy.
Your statement is nice and we can include it without as it is the section of NDA candidates and not BJP candidates and the alliance has a history of supporting/getting support of non-alliance members to benefit their presence as seen with Ashwini Vaishnav's election to Rajya Sabha among other things.
Other parties in India including those not belonging to the NDA bloc have also done similar practices such as Samajwadi Party alliance during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election after leaving Rampur Khas to INC and Jaswantnagar to Shivpal Singh Yadav, both of which have been covered in the list article. Xoocit (talk) 22:12, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thats fair, it is the NDA section, not the BJP section. I've added in the statement for WP:BALANCE to your original point and acknowledging that its a strategy used by parties even without formal candidates. I am still struggling whether its WP:DUE but probably ok Schwinnspeed (talk) 14:23, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I agree that the kashmir candidate issue is gray on being WP:DUE but for WP:BALANCE the statement seems appropriate.
It is necessary to communicate that while BJP might not be contesting, they are softening the blow of their arrival in Kashmir through the usage of newly formed parties as described by this Srinagar-based The Hindu journalist. The extensive media cover of the backing of these candidates could be similar to the backing of Kapil Sibal's election to Rajya Sabha or Jammu and Kashmir Awami Ittehad Party's backing of Engineer Rashid. In short, these additions could paint a fairer picture of the reality, without using WP:OR. Xoocit (talk) 21:37, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the Misinformation section, please add, "The officials of the Election Commission rubbished reports that OTPs were used to hack EVMs.[1]" 2406:7400:90:92A7:4225:E90A:466A:3BB9 (talk) 08:57, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your statement seems to lack context and appear to counter a fact that does not exist on the article? Xoocit (talk) 21:39, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
