When we think of leadership, we often think of how and what we can make others do. But our last week’s brownbag with former Wooga Sophie Vo invited us to look at what leadership means through a different lens. With over 16 years of experience in the gaming industry, Sophie has led over 30 global teams, launched 25 games, built 3 game studios, founded 5 ventures, and invested in 11 companies. During her talk, Sophie emphasized that true leadership is about self-control and self-discipline rather than directing others. She incorporated Stoic principles, advocating for viewing challenges as opportunities to exercise true leadership. Key takeaways included the importance of self-leadership, emotional management, and a methodical approach to handling emotions through self-reflection and de-escalation. Sophie’s profound message was clear—effective leadership starts with leading oneself. Last Monday we turned our Kitchen into a bustling hub of style and sustainability. Our Woogas swapped their pre-loved clothes, scored some new-to-them goodies, and had a blast doing it! Events like these not only bring our community closer but also align with our commitment to reducing waste and supporting sustainable practices. We made sure that nothing was left to go to waste: unclaimed items were donated to charity, ensuring that everything finds a new home. Last Thursday, we threw the biggest party in #Wooga history, celebrating our 15th anniversary at the stunning Strandbad Wendenschloss! It was a summer party and anniversary extravaganza rolled into one. This year’s theme? Midsommar. And as usual, Woogas showed up in amazing Midsommar costumes, bringing in the vibrant, whimsical vibes! Because this party was special, plus ones and kids joined in on the fun at the lake. There was the kids’ area where the little ones had a blast playing around. For the more handy Woogas, there were workshops for tote bag decoration, macramé, and wreath making. For the sporty, there were table tennis, volleyball, and much more... This day was more than a celebration; it was looking back on the last 15 years of creativity, teamwork, and games we developed along the way. Our talent acquisition team recently attended DevGAMM, an essential gathering for Eastern European gaming professionals. Our goal? To expand our network and recruit talented individuals from abroad. At #Wooga, we pride ourselves on our diverse team and were thrilled to pitch our relocation opportunities to potential candidates. We spoke to a wide range of passionate individuals—from solo developers and students to seasoned professionals. And our colleagues Fito Casella and Maya Vasylieva were there to help advocate for our Woogas. We especially enjoyed the hybrid indoor/outdoor setup of the conference, which allowed us to enjoy some lovely weather while connecting with such inspiring people.
