Thanks, @holger1405. I wish I could say that article helped. Still pretty cryptic based on the details I see in DXDIAG reports. There doesn't really seem to be any consistent pattern. For example, sometimes P1 is "1"; sometimes it's "Acquisition".

True that, WER is a flexible event-based feedback system, and the entries in the DxDiag are only meant to give a rudimental overview.
A MS-Info or a dump can give much more info, but the MS-info is not allowed on AHQ and a dump is even more cryptic if you don't know what you are looking for.
Edit: Typo

Thanks @holger1405.
It would be really useful for Community Connections to have a web call to talk about topics like "How to read a DXDIAG report". There are people like you who would have some really helpful things to say.

Can someone more familiar with AMD please update the instructions for comparing driver versions? You will notice that the formats are different in the original example...
xx.xxx.x.x in DXDIAG
xx.xx.xxxx on AMD site
a more recent DXDIAG report suggests the discrepancy is now...
xx.xx.xxxxx.xxxxx in DXDIAG
xx.x.xxxxx.xxxx on AMD site
Thanks!

The version number in DxDiag is the Windows Driver Store version, so it is technically still correct.
A Google search with this number will still return the correct AMD driver as the first result.
