The main key features of the modification are:
• Total reworking of the entire balance in the game: weapons, enemies, bosses, equipment on levels

• Rework and additions to the gameplay on all levels. As well as many more epic battles and unique gameplay situations!

• over 80 secrets! Almost all of the old secrets have been reworked, as well as many, many new unique secrets, placed in new and old locations on the levels, which now contain not only armour and ammunition, but also all sorts of fun things to keep the player from getting bored!

• The music is a matter of taste, but in many places it has been updated, mixing orchestral compositions and heavy rock'n'roll!

• The tarot cards have also undergone changes. The pack of cards has been reshuffled, and the tasks to get them have been changed a lot, and you are presented with a nice challenge instead of a chiselled nightmare like in the vanilla version!

• Painkiller is a very buggy game, especially its Overdose campaign. But a huge effort has been made to fix a lot of bugs, from gameplay bugs (doors not opening after the end of the level, crookedly placed objects, wrong monster counting) to scripting bugs, to increase the stability of the game and minimise the number of crashes as much as possible.

And how can we do without a few new gameplay and not only features!

• All weapons now respond to the player's camera movement

• All two-handed weapons now show Belial's left hand.

• all weapons have their own unique picking animations, fixed weapon picking icons, idle animations, added new weapon picking sounds, improved weapon position on the screen

• Q button to change to the last used weapon. Useful stuff, don't forget to use it!

• if a level has a task to collect something or perform some action - a counter will appear in the right corner of statistics

• sounds for some monsters have been updated so that they do not repeat and were more expressive. Some of the personal were voiced personally by the author of the modification!

• Belial's lines system is now working properly and he says ALL the unique lines as the levels progress, which I bet you haven't heard before!

• But if you don't like the talkative Belial (no-one is judging you) - you can always disable his voice in the game settings!

• The sounds of monsters gibbing have become many times juicier! Not only do a large number of enemies have their own unique, juicy gib sounds, but now they sound much clearer thanks to the sound output in 2D space (by default). But if you don't like it, you can always revert to the good old 3D sound.

These are not all of the documented changes, but some of the most key ones. I hope you are having as good an experience as possible while going through it!

The installation principle is as follows:
1. Download the archive

2. Delete the Data folder in the game folder at the following path: YourDisk/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Painkiller Black Edition/

3. Unzip the downloaded archive to the same path and enjoy!

Is this mod compatible with mods adding ultrawide screen resolutions and aspect ratios? are you including an ultrawide screen fix in this mod itself?

One of the devs here.

Most likely, there is no support for ultra-wide screens in mod due to the unpopularity of these monitors.

Is there a way to disable the god-awful death animations for enemies?

I'm sorry you didn't like the animations D:
So far I haven't envisaged such a feature as no one has complained about it before. But maybe I will add it with the next patch if there is such a need!

I dislike them because they are unsatisfying and bugged. Sometimes, if you kill an enemy who has these animations, they may instantly disappear and leave behind a soul. This seems to happen most frequently when enemies are killed with the eye lasers or the machine gun.

There's really no pattern to when this happens. That is, the weapon has no effect on the animations. And technically - the chance that the enemy will instantly disappear is not a bug, but a deliberate technical design (By the way, I didn't do it, it's a feature of the original Overdose).

I've never seen anyone dislike it, and some people even on the contrary, sometimes the sudden disappearance of a monster is satisfying.

But as I said, I'll probably add a disable function in the next patch.

I applied this patch and played the nuclear power plant, but when I load it after Panzerspider, it doesn't even get an error message and the game turns off

I'm really sorry this is happening. Most of the time I can't know what exactly causes a crash without an error, because such a crash is a problem with the game engine that I can't fix.

I just went through this section myself with restarts, I do not have such a crash.

Try loading the save early. If it does not help - will have to start the level again.

It happens to all people very differently, some people have crashes like you, and some have not had them at all, so it is impossible to establish a pattern. Most likely this is due to the age of the game and maybe it conflicts with some new systems.

Thanks for reporting this bug anyway! I hope this unpleasantness will not spoil your experience too much!

How is it installed correctly? I have followed your instructions but when I start the game I get something like this
script::Dofile
File not found: ../Data/Lscripts/Main/Tweak.lua and more errors

Sometimes it happens that due to an oversight you may have put the mod on incorrectly. No one has ever had a problem (At least I haven't seen any complaints) with this before. As you say, if the game complains about the lack of Tweak.lua and subsequent errors - it means it does not find the base scripts to run, and therefore there was an oversight in the installation error.

You need from the original game folder Painkiller Black Edition delete the folder Data, and then there in the same Painkiller Black Edition you unpack the archive with the mod. Perhaps you missed something when installing, be attentive!

I already solved it, for some strange reason the Steam version of Pankiller Black Edition was giving me that error. I solved it by installing the mod but with the version of painkiller black edition from gog, thank you for your response and your great work with this mod, it is very good

Although I've never had much trouble, I've heard that Steam version of the game is pretty unstable, while the GOG version is polished quite well. Glad it worked out for you, have fun and have a good game!
