To fix crashes, you need to create a symlink
In Windows, you do this like:
Open Command Shell with admin rights and paste there:
mklink /D "[Your Steam location]\steamapps\sourcemods\mebuild05\workshop" "[Your Steam location]\steamapps\common\Portal 2\portal2\maps\workshop"
If your Steam Library is on disk C, then it will look like:
mklink /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\mebuild05\workshop" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal 2\portal2\maps\workshop"
RUS: Чтобы исправить вылеты, нужно создать символическую ссылку, симлинк.
Пишете вместо [Your Steam location] библиотеку Стима, где установлены Portal 2 и мод, на стандартных настройках это выглядит как вторая команда.
Это баг самой игры, а не мода. This is a glitch of Portal 2 itself, not of the mod.
Это произойдёт с любым модом не из Стима (sourcemod) для Portal 2, исправляется так же.

что такое симлинк
Какой ужас начинаеться после встрчи модуля... Я не сдержался уже и улалил.
Ну и да, реально каких-то ресурсов будто не хватает. Надписи не читаются со всяких дисплеев. Титров в конце нет. У Глэдос в самом верху какой-то шар розовый, ну и так по мелочи. В целом это не влияет ни на что.
Тоже сделал символическую ссылку для мастерской.Теперь мод не "кашляет" каждые 5 секунд. Спасибо за наводку с решением.
Этот Portal 2 просто убивает криворукостью разрабов игры/Steam..
An easier solution is to boot Steam in offline mode and then open the mod. Same thing for all non-Steam Portal 2 mods, actually, since this issue is caused by the game thinking "I'm subscribed to workshop maps but none exist in this maps folder, therefore I must download them all."
But the best solution (at least on Win 10/11 and I think Linux) is to use a symlink. You can make a special shortcut in the mod's maps folder to make the game redirect to the normal workshop folder, and therefore not try to download anything. HowToGeek has a tutorial on making symbolic links. The soft link (the /D one) works for me. You have to run the command individually for every mod to generate its unique shortcut, but it's super worth it to not have to worry about redownloads or going offline.
I'm putting this comment here for all the people whos' game crashes 5 minutes into it, and can't play the full game. Here is a fix for it
Move all files from:
“steamapps\common\Portal 2\portal2\maps\workshop”
into the folder:
"steamapps\sourcemods\mebuild05\maps\workshop"
And when you're done playing the mod, move all the files back to the portal 2 workshop folder. Hope this helps, as I have not seen anyone else share this before (Thank you guest user).
