Introduction

Hi. My name is Crazyroman and i present to you Extended Greek Mod Enhanced

Main Features

Two new factions: In the place of Eastern Kingdoms you get the Massalian League, a faction with a small core of greek units, but they have bigger access to celtic units; they do not get access to many greek elite cavalry units.

In the place of Independent Gauls, you get the Celtic Tribes, inhabiting the Po Valley, a faction with new colors, that look like Britannia faction from vanilla, but with a lot different roster and of course faction symbol.

Many new units and models; many of them had a name change. For example Hypaspistai became Macedonian Peltasts and Agema Hypaspistai became Agema Macedonian Peltasts. We have a lot of new units for all factions and new mercenaries. Ptolemies now have, Therapeia Infantry and Therapeia Cavalry, all Greek factions get Iphicratean and Heavy Iphicratean Hoplites. Seleucids and Baktrians get new Cataphracts with a new model and a new Agema Cataphract unit. Germans, now have wolf and bear warriors, elite swordsmen and chosen slingers, Gauls and Celts get chosen archers, Pontus and Armenia get new Noble Infantry and new model for Eastern Infantry and for Eastern Peltast and other stuff. Barbarian factions that have hording got new horde units, same thing for Parthia. Sabaeans got a bit of love too, with new units. Carthaginians got, factional Scutarii and Heavy Scutarii, Phalanx Pikemen, Greek AoR units, iberian and celtiberian AoR, Iberians got new infantry and cavalry units. Scythians have been renamed to Sarmatians and their roster tries to imitate that, but they got a bit of infantry units as well. Romans, now do not have the ferres models anymore, but they use skins and models from various talented modders, old and new, which i will list below in the credits. Of course, last but not least, almost all units including mercenaries, have 3 different officers, generic officer, standard bearer and musician.

New buildings: Ptolemies, Armenia and Pontus now have access to the Greek theatres building chain, they can build mints in regions with gold or silver and quarries in certain regions in eastern Africa. Barbarian, Parthia, Saba and Baktria have access to animal_husbandry building line: Boost your economy with these buildings but they will not be available if you have built farms. Barbarians now have access to level 5th factional barracks, level 5th of the goverment building and they have a similar buidling like civilized academies. Greeks now have access to tavern building chain. Port_buildings now have a harbour building as the first building required to be built in the chain for everyone; There is also the shipyard as the last building in this chain, available only for certain factions.

New symbols for almost all factions, new user interface for all cultures.

Return of the lesser generals; New strat map models for generals, lesser generals, agents, towns and cities and fleets.

New traits, Confident generals or bad generals according to faction, e.g Ptolemaic Confident Strategos and stuff like this one.

Lowered the upkeep and recruitment costs. This might have made the mod it a bit easier. I will see if i can tune it better in the next version(s).

Some custom campaigns, like the Massalian one have been removed. Unfortunately i had to remove the Britannia and Ceasar's one, because of some problems i had with replacing Numidia.

Now, in sieges, your rams and towers won't be destroyed from the towers, because they have been disabled and now the siege towers, won't fire missiles against the defenders on the walls. This has been done, because both were annoyingly OP.

This mod is the work of Crazyroman . If you wish to upload to another site for downloading you will have to communicate with me and if I give you permission you can do it.
Don't steal. If you want to take something from this mod for your own mod please communicate with me.
No sub-mods for public release are allowed.

Installation Instructions for Steam users: Take the xgm folder and place it on your Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold (most of the times it's something like that or something similar). Select Rome:Total War Barbarian Invasion on your steam page, go into properties and paste this: -show_err -ne -nm -mod:xgm. Then select BI to run the mod. To run vanilla BI, you have to delete this line from your properties and then copy paste again to play the mod.

FAQ

Q: What do i need to run this mod ?
A: You need RTW Barbarian Invasion 1.6.

Q: Can i do a sub-mod for this sub-mod and release it to the public?
A: You can make a sub-mod for your own personal use, but you are not allowed to release it to the public.

Q: Why this mod has this unit/model/building/faction etc. instead of this/why this unit exists?
A: Generally speaking, this submod tries to be fun and kinda historically accurate. Please, don't be toxic and start complaining about this or that. Suggestions are okay and welcomed, but please do not be demanding or aggressive or insulting.

Q: Are there gonna be patches and updates for this mod?

A: Yes, of course. I have already spotted a few minor bugs and stuff like that. Probably there are going to be and some bigger changes.

I see now why so few downloads.
No clear instruction how to properly install the mod for none steam users and for some reason the mod opens the game in a window mode taking up only half my screen and no audio.

I don't have the disks anymore. I only have steam. The installation it's almost the same as steam, I'm sorry i don't remember the exact instructions. Or you could install latest xgm for BI and then apply my modfolder and select overwrite. The other problem is most probably your preferences, you have to edit your preferences file. Lastly, please if you could be less ironic, i would appreciate it. I do this in my free time and it's a big pain to mod and release it here and then give instructions and bugfixes etc and im all alone in this, there is no team behind,
i do everything. But if you don't like it, theres tons of other mods out there, better than mine you could try. Thank you.

Not trying to be ironic, simply stating there is a big chance nobody making reviews of this mod because it is missing proper installing instructions and they most probably give up figuring it out, so no reviews = less exposure = less downloads.

I got it to work somehow, but it loaded in small window minimal resolution 800x600 probably and all audio on off/mute. I checked preference file/s, they remain at normal default choices so there is no clear explanation as to why the game is loading with different settings. I eventually got it working by manually setting everything as it should, something I never really had to do in any mod.

None related remark/observation - I only tried the mod for couple of minutes playing Pontus, why they have so many temples (I lost count after 10)? and what is the point of them if some give the same benefits? it doesn't make much sense.

1) It's a 20 years old game, probably thats why it has few downloads and reviews. But seriously, i couldn't care less. I made this mod for me, i just wanted to share it. I also don't advertise it at all. The instructions are clear. No one had a problem before, at least from those i talked with, if someone has a problem, he has to report it here, but probably that's from his side or it is related with his own pc.

2) Not because of my instructions. It probably has to do with your system or game preferences. Remember, its a 20 years old game.

3)This mod is a submod for a very famous old mod called Extended Greek Mod, for Rtw. This temple system it's one of the main features of the og mod, and it was very hard to make too.

They aren't missing, probably because all factions have access to mercenaries in custom battles, some of their factional units disappear. It's the game's limits. Just disable some mercenaries by removing no_custom, in EDU.

Celts can't make boats?
impossible to make ships with the Celtic port which is located in the PO plain.
is this normal? I can make ships with all other factions.

I was thinking about doing an alexander expansion, because alexander has increased limits for models which means more units, but you lose hording and shield wall and schiltrom.
