Contra is a freeware modification for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real-time strategy game and one of the first mods for this game. It adds many new units as well as numerous new upgrades, new general's powers and buildings. It also adds new sounds, maps, bug fixes, enhanced graphics, and other effects, as well as three new generals.
Description
Contra is freeware modification (or simply - mod) for Generals: Zero Hour real time strategy game. This mod adds over 100 new units as well as new upgrades, new general's powers, buildings and 3 new generals. New music, quality graphics and sounds for normal Zero Hour units are added too. Contra is a 'standalone' mod - it won't work in conjunction with any other mods and AI patches you may have installed, so remove them before you install it. Contra requires Generals Zero Hour version 1.04.

this the frist time i every downloaded a mod from here i can say this whay you have done is redone the game and this is a good thing much more fun and better playing but i wish thy would add in the ussr but very good job

to be honest bud i dont know if you can turn it off the only way i got myn off is by uninstalling Zero hour and then reinstalling it sorry but i think your best bet is to ask on ALl Stars Forum page
Can Anyone help me ive just installed it had to manually install it and followed the step by step instructions on the cnc guild website and then tried to play it and it just sed ;you have encountered a serrios error. serios error can be caused by many things including, viruses, over heated hardware and hardware that does not meet the minimum specifications for the game. pleas visit the forum at the ea website for suggest courses of action or consult your manual for technical support information!!

if you are using game.dat files at size of 6.12 MB, try replacing this with game.dat at 6.18mb this is a iguana no cd dat files. You can also try to reinstall the game patch 1.04 but do not replace the game.dat only the no cd exe file game.exe. but this method you have no single player mode.

Try (if you have vista) right clicking on the C&C icon and hitting "run with administrator rights" That fixes pretty much everything on vista lol
when i start skirmish the ai sells its command centre and gets defeated how to solve

lol, i can only use ZH WITH contra 007, remove it, and it will not work O_o XD anybody know why? i think that it is a file in Contra witch the computer can not find on the disk :S
I have a problem with AI.It's just sending a single infantrymen to attack my base and camping in its base with tanks and building.Did I miss something?
pfff..... to build strategic palace etc i need general promotion? but where or i need maximum rank at stars to build them? sorry i've played only 1 hour and is boring...... shockwave is better,,,sorry but until now i haven't found nothing so speacial.....
I would like to suggest you put a formation control and units selection control for multiple units selected.
And also The GLA's airport can cause a li'l imbalance since there is no limit in building a kamikazee aircrafts, they are fast and so cheap. One must only guard the aircrafts on air and then can build hundreds of em or even thousands as long as resources permits.

I love this kind of game from the start. Way back on college with the Original Generals till zero hour. And lately I discovered this mod contra 007. I never thought this would be a nice mod because I have tried other mods but I didn't find it fun because most are so imbalance. But at this point of contra we banned infantry general. its just so strong an army of 5 minigunner combined with 5 tank hunter is already invulnerable on a 1 vs 1 tournament map. The only faction that could withstand this rush attack is the GLA's Toxin General or most of GLA with a toxic upgrade on the early stage.
When the game reaches 15 minutes and both players made a good defensive position, GLA and China have very very strong economic advantage and in the long run makes it imbalance. The black market and the hackers generate money very fast. While the GLA's black market structure is not questionable, Hackers are so small that they could occupy the same size of a usa drop zone that triples the DZ income generation with 25% less of expenditure and about 40% with the GLA. Reducing the size or time of the Drop zone or increase the yield might solve this.
GLA's buggy, thou it has weak armor and low damage, it is very cheap and moves very fast and very agile with a Field Effect damage. This cause conflict of balance with some of other Generals early game sniper tanks that moves very very slow with a very weak armor.
Nuclear Storm have a very very wide AREA OF EFFECT with a very very catastrophic aftermath, while usa Super weapon can deny some projectiles, other factions cannot. One shot of this, its the end of the game.
Some of the Rank 5 Units are stand alone (attacks land and air units) that it can wipe out a battalion while others cannot. Like Tank General's Shaitan!
Some units should be required at rank 3 or Rank 4 like the Aurora of the Laser General.
I would like to suggest you add a Hold Position control.
you know i love this mod...but i hate the game launch method. @Taran.UA you should create it with installer. and also one thing is why the buildings is can't be sell again?...when i wants to place another buildings for strategic place,there's no sell icon again. for the units...i give two thumbs up even so its to overwhelmed ability but they have detailed skins.

Very awesome and incredible mod. Units and graphics are magnificent as well as AI controls & movement. ONE REQUEST: Could you guys please make an Easy and Medium difficulty modes, my little brother thinks it's too hard for him, since he is only a beginner at strategy games.
Overall, excellent mod. Can't wait for new release of Contra 008. Keep doing the excellent work!
Wht sup guys I am new to this site so here we go. I got win7 on a laptop i downloaded the mod and winrar just like it says in the instructions deleted all the right folders but everytime i try to run its telling me i have encounter a serious error technical difficulties. That's what the small window say. Please help
@whtsupdoc you need to have zh 1.04 patch installed. i had that problem on my first mod too.
I cannot even bloody get one of the contras to work properly. Personally, I think you should stop trying to make the mod. Granted, I have no experience or know-how in mods, but from the playing perspective, it's definitely a fudge factor. When I have gotten it to work, there were so many bugs that even the world's best exterminator couldn't fix the fudge factor.
china nuclear general cant get propaganda center because it says i need generals promotion! and so does the airport.
