It's finally done. My complete review of SOMA:
I haven't been this impressed with a game in some time. What's most impressive is that despite my endless praise for Penumbra and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA shows significant improvement in every regard. Far more detailed environment, some of the most amazing art design I've ever seen in a game, much more polished, much more character interaction + voiced protagonist, almost every enemy you see in the game is unique with much more voice clips and animation and less predictable AI, much scarier gameplay, mind blowing sound design + the best sound effects I've ever heard in a game, but most importantly a powerful, thought-provoking, and very human story. It's everything that makes the horror genre special.

And it worth it even now IMO,, level design problems aside.
I recently started playing your mod pack 2013. I'm having serious fps issues from the very start of the game. I've tried changing/disabling all sorts of options in the menu, but to no avail. The FPS is fine when I look straight up in the sky, but it's around 7-10 when I'm looking at anything else.
My system is more than capable of playing it nicely, I just wanted to know if you've heard of this issue before and if so, can you let me know how to fix it? I'm sure it's just a simple fix because I remember playing this mod some months ago without any issues :P

Have you changed any driver settings, like forcing Anti-Aliasing externally? Are you running the BETA version of Mod Pack 2013? If so, try swapping it out for the regular one. The BETA one uses Photorealistic Zone 2, and combined with all the other graphics mods it's almost impossible to run.
Ok I've found out it's to do with the shader settings. If I delete the folders r2 and shared, and leave r1 alone, the game runs fine but it doesn't look that great.
Any advice on shader settings I could change?
I haven't made any changes externally and I'm running the original version of the mod. I've tried using patch 1.0005 and 1.0006, and I've even tried changing all settings to minimum, but there's still no difference.
I'll try a fresh re-install of the entire game and let you know if that works.
Still no luck :(
