System Shock 2 begins with you being unfrozen from a long cryogenic sleep aboard the Rickenbacker, a security spaceship assigned to tail the Von Braun on her maiden voyage. Apparently, the Von Braun has been infested by an unknown alien race and has converted the crew into relatively intelligent zombies. You must gather bits of audio clips along the way to figure out what happened to your crew and, more importantly, how you can rid the ship of the aliens. Rely on your skills training from either the Navy, Marines, or OSA to guide you on this difficult path. This 3D title offers unbelievable graphics, as the Thief engine is utilized to provide mouth-watering environments and character skins. The astounding graphics, varied RPG elements, and fluid action make this title worthwhile.

I've beaten this game three times now over the past eleven years. The second play through for this game, and Thief, was with surround sound in complete darkness. It will always be one of my top video game experiences.
But replaying is never quite as good as that first time, never knowing what the game will throw at you. That is the reason somebody (preferably Irrational) should make a SS3. To once again immerse me so fully into the cyberpunk universe that I forget I can't just hack my door to open it. I hope to see it soon.
Man, this game scared the crap out of me when I first played it!
source remake anyone?
Looking back at all of my PerfectDark MISSION'S, now knowing that the one's I wanted to Show, I can't and are the Future, and are still CLASSIFIED.
I love SS2
one of the best games i have played. now if only bioshock had been good
i just have to agree with mattcoles... thought that bioshock would be like ss2 but no... got just a regular fps instead.installed ss2 again and still loving it(and still scares the crap out of me sometimes... :D
I don't like hacking the alarms so whenever I set em off I just smack the hybrid armies down with my wrench; but damn it using guns is tough in this game, you don't get to use them enough, especially when you need them against monkeys or shotgun hybrids.
Dude, steal ammo from the training at the beginning of the game, and smuggle it onto the Von Braun. :D Don't look at it as cheating, think of it as being a really clever thief in the game. I always do that. HE and AP
Also another clever trick. Bind laser pistol to a key you can press really easily and fast, and carry about 3 or 4 of them. You can rapid shot them with them on the high setting, by switching between them while the previous pistol charges for another shot. I do this and its great, I can kill huge hordes with no problems at all. And since you're carrying a small pile of pistols and using them all like one weapon, its like having that many times the ammo, so you can shoot a lot more than with just one of them.
Seriously though, I love the laser pistol in SS2 far more than the ones in any other games I've played. The way it looks, that cool animated skin, the sound... love it, always have.
