Update to the Human Bubble

Updates to the

What's New?

83 Star Systems

A major update is in the works for the map the Human Bubble that currently uses 49 handcrafted star systems using information from Elite: Dangerous. I've prototyping adding 83 extra star systems. These are picked from the Top 100 most visited start systems in Elite: Dangerous found here.

HumanBubbleV2p2

The problems are:

  1. Stellaris only seems to support a maximum of 32 celestial bodies before it will crash
    • Many of these systems were originally planned but I'd have to start with cutting down the moons so that the systems are still viable and I was able to get this going with Maia, which has a total of 50 celestial bodies. Similar to how PDX set up Sol, I cut down the extra barren rocks to ensure the maximum of 32.
    • All other planned star systems have less than 50 celestial bodies with an average of 20 bodies making the work not too rough to port.
  2. The density of the star systems means that things are less lore friendly within the tiny galaxy map.
    • One option is to keep the original Tiny (200 stars) and make the new version Small (400 stars) however, I wanted to update the Tiny map to be a majority of handcrafted star systems that are genuinely meaningful to players of the entire Elite series.
    • The Final Frontier map is technically the more lore friendly option anyway, which will retain the key star systems it already has. I've planned 5 star systems based on the same list that are more than 1000 Ly away from the Human Bubble
  3. Life has a way of getting in the way.
    • I work full time, this project is a creative hobby. I love Elite: Dangeorus and I wanted to see a mod like this but thought since no one formally put it together I could try. Lately, I've been a bit burned out from Stellaris but that usually just comes with a 3-6 month break then I'll be sucked back in. However, work on the map and patch compatibility updates has been ongoing since April with prototyping in the end of May, and 7 of the star systems built by the end of June.

When?!

By 2025

What if I want my favourite star system in this mod?

I'm going to put together documentation and a few scripts so anyone can continue to add their own star systems. There's so many that it's hard to pick which exact ones would work best. There are also tools such as the Stellaris Star System Builder that helped me get started. However, there's a few issues with porting information sourced from the Elite Dangerous Star Map or even in-game.

In the meantime, fly safe CMDRs.

If I have preordered Stellaris and my friend has not, can they use the Creatures of the Void portraits to make a race in a multiplayer game I host?

Can we use more than 2 colours in a race flag or could it be implemented later?

It has been mentioned in several let's plays that the base game will launch without a espionage system. Is it possible that a future DLC might include intrigue based actions?
