Men of War takes place in Europe and North Africa during the height of World War II. The story takes place over three different campaigns and players take on the role of Soviet, Allied and German soldiers. Each campaign has its own scenario and structured timeline, which brings different elements of the war to life.

The game features hundreds of accurately modelled historical tanks and vehicles — including new designs of tanks, APCs and heavy guns — all of which are ready for your command. Dynamic in-game cutscenes enhance the single-player by telling the plot, without pulling the player out of the game experience. What's more, the sounds of war have been given a new lease of life, with more than 1,000 sounds effects of weapons and combat gear; all recorded under real operating conditions.

The single-player campaign also features a customisable user-interface, so players can have the command controls laid out in their own style. One of the biggest changes for Men of War is the inclusion of a comprehensive multiplayer, featuring new maps and modes, including Capture the Flag, High-Value Cargo and more. Also, there's a refined rating system to ensure a fair fight in online multiplayer battles.

Dear fans of Global War,

I have made quite some progress with the conversion for Assault Squad 2. Unfortunately real life matters have not allowed me to work as much as I wanted on the mod, but I am still developing it. Currently I managed to finish the Waffen SS faction, both for the human player and the AI player. I am going to rework the Partisan faction because I was not satisfied with it: they were completely overpowered in the early game thanks to the sniper infiltration that was available from the beginning, but suffered a lot in late game, to the point that either you closed the game in the first 30 minutes or the game would degenerate into a stalemate. Another thing I did not like is that you could combine intel for the Soviet Union and the Allies and you could unlocked units for both, which looked like weird. So these are the changes I will implement to the Partisans (refer to the preview articles for reference):

  • You have offensive and defensive intel for each sub-branch of the Partisans (Partisan forces, Soviet Union, and Allies).
  • You have an additional "spy network" intel that unlocks an ultimate unit/ability for each sub-branch.
  • If you choose one of the two Soviet Union support commands, you cannot send intel to the Allies.
  • Sending intel to the Allies or the Soviet Union locks the possibility of sending intel to the other faction, so you cannot mix up Soviet and Allied units.
  • Each intel costs some technology points depending on the units it unlocks.

Furthermore there will be an extra change with respect to the previous versions: due to memory allocation issues in supporting all 8 factions on a single map (the game does not even load 8 factions correctly on some maps and crashes with OUT OF MEMORY error), I decided to split them according to different fronts:

  • Eastern front contains Soviet Union, Wehrmacht, Axis Foreign Army, Waffen SS, and Partisans.
  • Western front contains USA, Commonwealth, Partisans, Wehrmacht, and Waffen SS.
  • Southern Front contains Wehrmacht, Waffen SS, Axis Foreign Army, USA, Commonwealth, Partisans.
  • Pacific front contains Japanese Empire, Soviet Union, USA, and Commonwealth.

Also from now on only Axis vs Allies combinations are allowed for better realism and stability.

You have to finish the soviet one before you can play any of the other campaigns. I'm currently on the German one myself

I wish someone would create one or more of the following mod's:

A Mod which adds in things like V-3 Rockets, German/American/British Jet Fighters, better Warships for Naval Units, German Rail Guns, Submarines that actually dive, More Planes, and units for the more influential figures of each nation like Hitler, Goering, Himmler, Stalin, Zhukov, Rommel, Montgomery, Churchill, De Gaul, Eisenhower, Patton, Yamamoto.

A Mod about post WWII 80's Alternate History in which the Axis won the war and the factions are the Nazi, Italian, and Japanese Empire's, on one side and the Free World Coalition and Resistance on the other. In this basically the world would be transformed like how Berlin would become the Germania Hitler dreamed of and the technology too. I also imagine the Nazi Soldiers being the kind you see in the movies you know with the gas masks and dark overcoats you know. I imagine the Nazi's would control most of Europe and the Italians North Africa with the Japanese the Pacific.
