It works sometimes
Bad Tech Support, doesn't honor referrals. No IPv6. Overprivisioned beyond reason.
Avoid, scummy business practice. Toxic support who refuses to do their due dilligence.

Service install was fine, we had it for almost a year, but I was told by customer service to "cancel the account" because they have no timeline on when they'll get a new node installed in one of their own serviced areas. Apparently their switching everything over from static public IP addressing to a DHCP based CG-NAT system. CG-NAT is awful, and no business should ever be deploying it.

Their moving process sucks, and they don't inform the customer that the install date was canceled unless you call, wasted an entire workday I called off just to get this done, only to find out that they canceled it without calling me.

I really wanted it to work out, but I can't recommend Metronet to friends/family anymore after the poor experience I received.

NO IPV6 anytime in the near future (Only crappy isp's refuse to implement IPV6, their small enough right now that it shouldn't be an issue to implement now, it's only going to get harder as they get bigger)

I wanted to update that this company just seems to get worse and worse. Days of 30%+ Packet loss at seemingly random times, uncommunicative support, one even put notes on my account that I am combative and shouldn't be helped because I refuse to remove my router to do a speedtest, my router consistantly hits gigabit speedtests and it makes no sense that it would randomly show 900Mbps down and 1Mbps up for a Metronet speedtest server. On top of high latency in excess of 30ms to Chicago which gets 10ms or less on every other ISP in my area.

I asked again this year if they had plans to implement IPv6 and was told that they have no plans to implement it.

I recommend getting AT&T or Comcast, at least when they ignore you, they have a proper NOC that monitors the internal network for issues and fixes them without requiring 10 people in your area to call and report the issue.

Fuck Metronet.

They finally got me service, but refused to honor the discount for referrals

They finally got me service, but refused to honor the discount for referrals. I'd recommend avoiding unless they are the cheapest option (which they are for me atm). I'll be switching to another ISP as soon as they can bring dual-stack gigabit service for similar cost. Don't really like supporting bad business practice, they took over Lightspeed which HAD IPv6 implemented and threw it in the trash.
