In The First Descendant, Crystallization Catalysts are powerful tools for customizing your character or weapon. They work by unlocking special socket types for modules, allowing you to equip modules with more specialized functionalities. You can purchase them from the shop using Caliber or research the blueprint. This guide will focus on collecting Mixed Energy Residue, a key resource needed to craft Crystallization Catalysts.

The First Descendant – How to Get Mixed Energy Residue

Mixed Energy Residue can be easily farmed at the Agna Desert by opening the Encrypted Vaults or Storage Boxes. One of them is hidden in a small underground cave. Start from the Vermilion Waste Outpost and head towards the massive rock formation on the left. The cave entrance is located at the bottom of the mountain.

To open Storage Box or various types of Encrypted Vaults, you'll need different Code Analyzers. The purple vault, for instance, requires an Ultra Precision Code Analyzer, which can be quite difficult to obtain. It’s also best to set the world to Private to eliminate the Encrypted Vault bug, where you can mess up the mini game.

After opening the vault, you can reset it by teleporting to another Outpost and then returning to the Vermilion Waste. Revisit the cave to see if the vault has reappeared; if it hasn't, exit and re-enter the area once again. Alternatively, you can search for another Encrypted Vault in the Agna Desert, as there should be several on this map.
