It is with a heavy heart that we bring you the news that '90s games journalism legend Andy Dyer has passed away.
Dyer will be famous to anyone in the UK who read video game magazines in the '90s; he began his career on Commodore Format as a staff writer before helping Steve Jarratt launch Total!, the UK's first magazine devoted to covering all of Nintendo's systems.
Dyer would also work on magazines such as Mega (where he rose to the position of editor), PlayStation Max, N-Revolution, GamesMaster and Official PlayStation Magazine.
Our thoughts are with Dyer's family and friends at this difficult time.

Well that's made me pause and reflect.
Only the other day I was looking at my old Total magazines. It may not be regarded as well as Super Play these days, but Total was so much fun to read as a kid. It was my first gaming magazine and absolutely helped fuel my passion for gaming.
All these years later, those memories of reading Andy and Steve's great work are still with me.
Well played sir.
RIP. These names were like friends to me as a kid.
Andy "Thicky" Dyer? He was one of my fave reviewers as a kid. Thats terrible news, Rest in peace Sir!
@hambury Total! was super fun to read. As a JRPG fan, sure, Super Play had the 1 up, but before I heard of Super Play I was a devoted Total! reader, I could read their reviews a 100 times and still enjoy them.
RiP. Many fond memories 😀 f reading my friends Total mag when he had a NeS and I had a master system.
