Baghdad, May 15, (VOI) a" Iraq's Central Football Federation will temporarily move to another location now that its headquarters has been occupied by displaced families from Sadr City, a source from the federation said on Thursday.

"It has become difficult to reach the headquarters of the football federation in the International al-Shaab playground after it has been occupied by displaced families, which were forced to leave their homes in Sadr City in the aftermath of the three-week military operations," the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).

"We have managed to reach the headquarters in coordination with officials from the playground's Protection Force to manage some important affairs in the federation, but we cannot do this on daily basis. Most of the employees and workers in the federation cannot enter the playground," the source noted.

The federation has temporarily moved to another location in al-Waziriya area, the source explained, adding that the international relations department has also been transferred to the new headquarter.

Since early 2005, Iraq's Central Football Federation has moved its headquarters from al-Karkh Sports Club to the International al-Shaab playground. An old headquarters in Falasteen Street was blown up in the aftermath of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of the country.

After its establishment in 1948, the federation constructed its first headquarters in the building of the now famous al-Adhamiya Club in Antar field.
