One of the secrets behind budget supermarket's Aldi's meteoric rise is down to the size of the check outs, company insiders have revealed.
The speed at which the cashiers ring up customer purchases has seen the German store, along with its fellow discounter, Lidl, the German chain is outperforming its "Big Four" competitors, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrison's and Asda.
Its ability to keep prices low is actually down to a few factors - or tricks - as revealed in Inside Aldi: Britain's Biggest Budget Supermarket, reports theMirror.
The Channel Five documentary featured ex-staff and experts who lifted the lid on the clever ploys that the retailer has used to make its products so competitively priced.
And the small check out areas is a prime example of Aldi efficiency.
