Access Intelligence (AI; Rockville, MD) has acquired a minority interest in the RETECH exhibition and conference, an event that includes more than 3,000 professionals in the renewable and alternative energy technology sector, from the American Council: of Renewable Energy (ACORE; Washington, D.C.). No terms of the deal were given. The RETECH show, to be held in February 2010, was launched two years ago by ACORE to focus on the full range of renewable and alternative energy technologies. The 2009 show included 3,000 attendees, 240 speakers and 140 renewable energy companies. The show covers wind power, solar energy, hydro and ocean power, geothermal power, biomass energy, biofuels and waste energy.
The show will become a part of Access Intelligence's Energy unit which includes the Electric Power trade show, the EnergyOcean conference, "Power Magazine," and "The Energy Daily" newsletter. AI President/CEO Don Pazour said his company was "very excited to partner with ACORE ... as we grow this conference in conjunction with our stable of energy properties."
The purchase closely follows AI's purchase of the Offshore Communications and EnergyOcean conferences from Technology Systems Corp. (Stuart, FL), a subsidiary of Continental Shelf Associates. EnergyOcean focuses on the activities offshore to develop sustainable energy sources while Offshore Communications serves the offshore drilling and oil and gas markets. Technology Systems also publishes "Ocean News & Technology" and "Offshore Source" magazine and produces the Subsea Survey series of conferences.
