Te·re·sa of Calcutta

(tə-rē′sə, -zə, -rā′-), Saint. Originally Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. Known as "Mother Teresa." 1910-1997.
Albanian-born Indian nun noted for her charity work among India's poor. In 1950 she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of sisters. She won the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.
