Steele kicked the night off with The Big O's first hit, Ooby Dooby.

The tribute to the Big O was split into the early and later years but, unsurprisingly, some of the older material crossed over into the second half of the show.

In the course of watching the film, viewers get to know the Anglo sheriff Sam Deeds; the Chicana high school history teacher Pilar Cruz; Pilar's mother Mercedes, a successful businesswoman who owns the Santa Barbara Cafe; African American army colonel Delmore Payne; and his estranged father Otis, who owns Big O's Nightclub and who also runs the Black Seminole Museum in town.

There have been many stage tellings of the Big O's story the one and only Roy Orbison.

Damien Edwards's Roy Orbison makes you want to listen to the Big O's albums all over again.

Bang Bang Bang was a furious tale of revenge, while a slinky cover of Roy Orbison's Crying showed off her vocal range as she hit The Big O's high notes.

Franchise Appreciation Day attendees from Big O Tires took a little side trip away from Capitol Hill during their visit to Washington, D.C.

It's been written that it would be impossible to find somebody whose voice matches the Big O's so closely, his hugely powerful voice, with even the quavering tremble, adding to the emotion of his songs, cuts through the hushed auditorium.

Lead vocalist Raul Malo also showed just why he's been compared with the late, great Roy Orbison with a superb version of the Big O's classic, In Dreams.
