Disney Lorcana Nerfs Problematic Card 'Bucky' Into The Ground

They should have just banned the card

Ravensburger's new TCG, Disney Lorcana, is continually making waves in the TCG world and gaining popularity. With its 4th set, Ursula’s Return, and the upcoming 5th set, Shimmering Skies, arriving in August, the card game is fun and competitive. Lorcana is coming off a 4th set championship, and players have received their first game-changing errata to a card that was seeing a lot of consistent play: Bucky.

Bucky is a 1/1 with Ward that has an ability that makes an opponent discard a card whenever you play a card with the "Floodborn" keyword. While being a powerful card in the right deck, it did see a lot of play and was pretty consistent. This writer wouldn’t call the card “overpowered” because there are answers to it, but if it got rolling, you’d have your opponent top-decking rather quickly. The errata hit the card HARD today and was confirmed on the official Disney Lorcana website. In my opinion, it makes the card borderline unplayable. See the errata below.

This is the first time the card game has gotten such a huge change. It was bound to happen sooner or later, but instead of just banning the card, the errata just makes you not want to use it at all. So, I guess it is a ban of sorts. As more sets continue to release, I’m sure we’ll get more and more erratas. However, nothing from the first 4 sets released so far has been outright banned, but how long that may be the case might change.
