Polyphony Digital teased a significant Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 update for the GT World Series livestream over the past weekend, and it delivered: update 1.49 is bringing a new track, lots more cars, new physics, and expanded GT Sophy AI compatibility to additional circuits. You can see all of it in action in the trailer above.

Most importantly, the new race track is Eiger Norwand, returning from PS3 entry Gran Turismo 6. Next up, the following cars will be made available for purchase in-game:

  • Ferrari 430 Scuderia (2007)
  • BMW M3 (1997)
  • Lambroghini Gallardo LP 560-4 (2008)
  • Genesis Vision Gran Turismo
  • Subaru Impreza Rally Car (1998)
  • RUF RGT 4.2 (2016)

The trailer then teases "new physics" but does not expand on what it means by that; you can also look forward to kitting your ride out with Michelin tyres and wheels from another new brand. For the ultimate racing test, you can also compare your skills to the elite Sophy AI system on more tracks having downloaded the update. You can race it on the endurance course that is the Nurburgring and the full track version of Lago Maggiore. This content will be available for free on 25th July 2024.
