Description:
The mod is used to fix the 11 menu entries of Darker Nights - Next Gen. If the menu entries are over 10 and you scroll down to the entry larger than 10, you may find the entries mismatch with their functions. This is due to the menus of The Witcher 3 are not designed to have entries larger than 10. This mod is simply move the settings of 9 regions to the separated menu entry called "Region Settings".

The mod also adds the default values of user.settings, which allows mod manager managing these settings.

I provide the patch and the patched version of Darker Nights or Darker Nights Enhanced. There are 3 versions of the file. You could choose one to install. The purposes are listed below:
  • modDarkerNightsMenuFix
    It's used to patch the original Darker Nights or Darker Nights Enhanced mod. It doesn't have Darker Nights function. Therefore, it requires original Darker Nights or Darker Nights Enhanced mod to work.
  • modDarkerNights
    The patched version of Darker Nights mod. I manually patched the original Darker Nights mod. It has full Darker Nights function. Therefore, it requires you to remove original Darker Nights mod. The Witcher 3 version 4.04 is required!
  • modDarkerNightsNGEnhanced
    The patched version of Darker Nights Enhanced mod. I manually patched the original Darker Nights Enhanced mod. It has full Darker Nights Enhanced function. Therefore, it requires you to remove original Darker Nights Enhanced mod. Moreover, the original Darker Nights Enhanced mod requires Community Patch - Shared Imports mod to work, so does the patched version. The Witcher 3 version 4.04 is required!


In addition to Darker Nights patch, I also update the Friendly Meditation patch for Darker Nights.
  • modFriendlyMeditationDarkerNights
    It's used to patch the original Friendly Meditation mod. It doesn't have Friendly Meditation function. Therefore, it requires original Friendly Meditation mod to work. The Witcher 3 version 4.04 and Friendly Meditation mod version 0.9.6NGE are required!


Install the Patch (modDarkerNightsMenuFix)

Mod Manager Installation (Suggested):
  • Install Darker Nights - Next Gen (Make sure you can actually see the menus in the game, or the patch won't work.)
  • Install the patch using mod manager (The v0.9.1 version of The Witcher 3 Mod Manager is suggested.) If you are using Vortex or the 0.8.2 version of The Witcher 3 Mod Manager or below, you should manage dx12user.settings by manual. See the instructions in manual installation.
  • The priority of the patch should be greater than the Darker Nights - Next Gen (The load order of the patch should smaller than the original mod)

Mod Manager Uninstallation:
  • Uninstall the patch
  • Reinstall Darker Nights - Next Gen (Note, the mod will overwrite the original menu list. You need to reinstall the origin mod if you only want to get rid of this mod, not original mod)

Manual Installation:
  • Install Darker Nights - Next Gen. You can use original or enhanced version. (Make sure you can actually see the menus in the game, or the patch won't work.)
  • Download and extract the archive, you will get the patch folder modDarkerNightsMenuFix
  • Replace {Game folder}\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\DarkerNights.xml with modDarkerNightsMenuFix\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\DarkerNights.xml
  • Copy contents of modDarkerNightsMenuFix\user.settings.part.txt to {My Document}\The Witcher 3\dx12user.settings
  • Copy contents of modDarkerNightsMenuFix\user.settings.part.txt to {My Document}\The Witcher 3\user.settings
  • Copy all w3string files in modDarkerNightsMenuFix\content\ to {Game folder}\Mods\modDarkerNights\content and replace everything.

Manual Uninstallation:


Install the Patched Darker Nights (modDarkerNights)

Mod Manager Installation (Suggested):
  • Uninstall Darker Nights - Next Gen
  • Install the patched mod using mod manager (The v0.9.1 version of The Witcher 3 Mod Manager is suggested.) If you are using Vortex or the 0.8.2 version of The Witcher 3 Mod Manager or below, you should manage dx12user.settings, dx11filelist.txt and dx12filelist.txt by manual. See the instructions in manual installation.
  • Run Script Merger to resolve script conflicts

Mod Manager Uninstallation:
  • Uninstall this mod
  • Run Script Merger to undo merges

Manual Installation:
  • Uninstall Darker Nights - Next Gen
  • Download and extract the archive. You will get the patched mod folder modDarkerNights
  • Put the modDarkerNights into {Game folder}\Mods
  • Copy modDarkerNights\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\DarkerNights.xml to {Game folder}\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\
  • Copy contents of modDarkerNights\user.settings.part.txt to {My Document}\The Witcher 3\dx12user.settings
  • Copy contents of modDarkerNights\user.settings.part.txt to {My Document}\The Witcher 3\user.settings
  • Open modDarkerNights\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\dx12filelist.txt, add DarkerNights.xml; to the end of files and save the files. (Note: there is a semicolon after .xml.) Instead, you can use Menu Filelist Updater to auto-update your menu filelists (suggested).
  • Repeat the previous step on modDarkerNights\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\dx11filelist.txt.
  • Run Script Merger to resolve script conflicts

Manual Uninstallation:
  • Undo everything of the installation steps on {Game Folder} and {My Document}\The Witcher 3 folders
  • Run Script Merger to undo merges


Install the Patched Darker Nights Enhanced (modDarkerNightsNGEnhanced)
The enhanced edition requires Community Patch - Shared Imports. You should install it first.
The installation steps are identical to the Patched Darker Nights (modDarkerNights), except that:
  • The mod folder name should be changed to modDarkerNightsNGEnhanced
  • You should also put the dlcDarkerNightsNGEnhanced into {Game folder}\DLC


Install the Friendly Meditation Patch (modFriendlyMeditationDarkerNights)

Mod Manager Installation (Suggested):
  • Install (Next Gen Edition) Friendly Meditation (Make sure you can actually use the mod in the game, or the patch won't work.)
  • Install the patch using mod manager (The v0.9.1 version of The Witcher 3 Mod Manager is suggested)
  • The priority of the patch should be greater than the (Next Gen Edition) Friendly Meditation. The load order of the patch should smaller than the original mod. When you are using the Script Merger, select the patched script instead of original one if both scripts exist. Do NOT merge the original scripts and the patched scripts.
