you can save them with cheat engine table, just replace their trait and the story will ignore them, but if you do it with lily's father the story won't continue. Anyway for the awesome mod i will tell you my funny trick: if you use this table "https://fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?t=343" you can copy lily's father trait make any followers invincible or add invincible code "0002" to any follower trail you want if you like have some fun with badass followers XD
nothing you have to change about Thomas Ritter trait, i recommend you use 2 survivors with his trait from Ranger Station as followers for full experience story or you also can use Maya as third follower by add "0002", but be careful she may get black fever or hurt stats. You also can do that with any other followers you want but they can also be like Maya.

She will not say anything, she will just pretend that her father is not around, and the mission where Lilly asks the player to get a memorable thing about her father from the ranger station will not go anywhere either. The game simply does not provide any dialogues or plot branches on this score, because the developers did not prescribe them for obvious reasons. And why, if this character dies at the beginning of the game? Haha. However, I should note that Wendell and Sheila behave more naturally in church, while Lilly's father just stands at the window for days, Wendell and Sheila drink water, sit on chairs, sleep, talking about base and resources...
