Everytime I try installing fallen order, or manually extracting the z7 zip files for survivor I get download failed, or failed to install extension.

This is the extension for Jedi Survivor, not Fallen Order. The link you provided is not valid so I am unsure what you are doing wrong.

Some mods are not loaded if in the "mods" folder you have only symbolic links, it is necessary to put the original files instead of symbolic links

Of course, this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/starwarsjedisurvivor/mods/91 if I install it with vortex, it creates symbolic links to the files, this way it doesn't work, I have to manually copy the files to make it work, hope this is helpful

The same thing happened with the mods for Howgats Legacy, at the beginning symbolic links were created in the "~mods" folder and the change appearance mods did not work, later they fixed it by having the original files copied instead of creating symbolic links

You can fix symbolic links by ensuring the mod staging folder is on the same drive as your game and updating the staging folder path/deployment setting in your application settings.

The next version will no longer allow symlinks.
