    I love this! ENDORSED

    It feels more like what I know in real life where arrows do travel straight for a good distance until they lose forward inertia and the weight of the arrow head brings it down.

    I mean even if it is a little exaggerated to make hitting easier in this game I don't mind, it is the best of all the arrrow speed mods out there that I've tested.

    Also just to report I am playing on GoG lastest update of KCD and I use Vortex to manage the mods since manual on GoG doesn't work most of the time. I had to follow the insturctions below to get it to work by creating a manifest file/copying one from another mod, opening it in a text editing program like Notepad++, adding the text mentioned in the comments below, creating a 'Data' Folder inside the arrow mod folder and moving the .pak file into it. Only then the mod works and unfortunately Vortex doesn't like that so it tries to kick it off the mod list because files were changed. It's a little annoying that I have to manually add the mod into the mod order file in the main Mods folder but what ever, that's Vortex fault for not leaving the mod alone.

    Hopefully you are still modding and can update this to be compatible with the new 1.9.6 version of the game and Vortex without anybody needing to do the patchwork. It's not hard but it'd be nice to have a one click solution.

    Keep it up, hope you're still involved modding :)

    Text for mod.manifest:

    Hey guys, in order to get this old mod to work, you have to copy a "mod.manifest" file from another mod as a notepad file, then rewrite it, then create a new "data" folder to put the .pak file in.  The "mod.manifest" file should look something like this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <kcd_mod>
      <info>
        <name>zzz_slightlyfasterarrows</name>
        <description>Lowers arrow gravity</description>
        <author>digdug</author>
        <version>1.3</version>
        <created_on>2018-02-18</created_on>
      </info>
    </kcd_mod>

      So you're saying that I should get a "mod.manifest" file.
      --> Delete everything in it, add what you posted here
      --> Create a new folder and call it data
      --> put the mod.manifest + pak file in the new 'data' folder

      --> do i put that folder in the 'mods' folder or somewhere else?
      I suck at this so it might be wrong

      No.
      You create a Realistic Archery folder, you put the mod.manifest in there and create in RAF a "Data" Folder where you put the .pak in

      Ummm you got the version number wrong tho, on the files tab the version number is clearly listed as "69.69" not 1.3 :-P

      (ya, I know it doesn't actually matter lol)

      <param name="speed" value="60" />
      <param name="gravity" value="0, 0, -9.0" />
      <param name="thrust" value="0" />

      <param name="speed" value="60" />
      <param name="gravity" value="0, 0, -3.0" />
      <param name="thrust" value="2" />

      I would not doubt that no one in the developers team had no idea what "Realistic Arrow Flight" is for years during development. All of a sudden experts rise from every hole to make oh-so realistic mods of every kind to "fix" the game that is "not realistic enough of course".

      Should we remove the fast arrow mod now?

      I would say to remove this mod now, not Faster Arrows, since Faster Arrows is still being updated and this one seems to be abandoned.

      "I would not doubt that no one in the developers team had no idea what "Realistic Arrow Flight" is for years during development." You HAVE played the game, right? I practice archery, and archery in this game is a FAR cry from realistic. I feel that anyone who has loosed a single arrow in their lives would see this immediately.

      I hunt with a recurve bow and I can tell you truthfully that the bows in this game compare better to childrens toys you pick up at walmart.

      "I hunt with a recurve bow and I can tell you truthfully that the bows in this game compare better to childrens toys you pick up at walmart."

      I may be wrong, but aren't recurve bows specifically made so that you have a powerful shot that you can easily pull without needing a lot of strength?
      Back then there were no fancy mechanisms to compensate for that, and you had to have quality materials to have decently powerful bows.

      Perhaps the recurve bow that you hunt with just goes to show how far we have advanced in technology. Also, I went and found this video of an englishman who brought an english longbow to an african tribe, he also speaks of the difference between the bows that tribe used, and the bow he gave them.
      What he says makes me think that there is a reason most bows in the game, at the beggining, are crap.

      But hey, maybe I'm wrong.

      I think you're thinking of a compound bow. Recurves are still hard to pull.

    this mod is a waste of storage space, arrow drops off at 50 meter (ridiculous) and its flight path is very inaccurate, i miss Faster Arrows.

    Does this work on the last version of the game on GOG? I've toyed with the xml file values and it seems no matter what I change I can't see any difference with the yew longbow, also can't see any difference with the default pak file vs none. I'm under the impression mods need a new installation method to work on the newer versions?

    Do arrows fly farther too?
    I'm using a Yew longbow,
    and irl longbow can fire arrows a few hundred yards,(up to 400)
    but they don't go vary far in game, even at rank 20 bows.
    That max seems to be under 100 yards. (100 yards is 300 feet)

      Your average adult can lob a softball farther than the arrows go in the default KCD.

    Needs an update.

    Yes, I've used a bow.
    Yes, arrows in KcD don't fly like a real arrow.
