FWIW, I found that it is not necessary to delete all three texture.bin files in order to remove the terrible shadows on Aloy's face You only need to remove Patch_AloyFaceTexture_A.bin. I tried each texture file individually, and then in combination, and the only times I got the shadows were when that texture file was installed. I did the testing during the cutscene where Aloy and Teersa emerge from the mountain to have Aloy made a Seeker. I found that the shadows were particularly bad during this scene, now they are gone. I am using Patch_AloyFaceTexture_B.bin and Patch_AloyFaceTexture_HeadSet.bin, and am not getting the shadows. Also, her freckles are gone.
To everyone asking about Horizon Forbidden West, I won't be modding it. Already got the game on ps4 and haven't played it yet, so I'll wait for sales on PC. I'm sure by then someone else will have done face reshape, there are already people hard at work figuring out the new file formats. Also I don't believe this mod works as-is on the second game, from what I heard a lot has changed about the archives. Happy modding!
about that supposed face mod that got taken down: I don't know anything about it, I haven't seen it, but it is extremely unlikely that it was real. To this day, there is no mesh tool that I know of for HFW. So a mod modifying Aloy's face a few days after the game release was more likely just a fake mod to deceive people, which would explain why it was taken down so quickly (if it even existed idk).
See the top stickied post. You need to install everything but Patch_AloyFaceTexture_A.bin, delete that one. No idea why the mod is still packaged with that file after all these years. You can also delete Patch_AloyFaceTexture_B.bin to restore some of the slight wrinkles and other blemishes the author scrubbed out while still keeping Aloy from looking like someone just broke her jaw.
