Speaking as an artist, I think using AI to make art for this purpose is acceptable.
What people won't tell you is that you'll spend years developing any kind of knack for generating this kind of art, and then expect you to release your hard earned labor for a pittance at best. This is the best of both worlds. I'd also like to point out the default images may have had the human element, but the effort put into them is decidedly mid.
Either way, I'll endorse not for the art but for putting the human effort into packaging the AI's output into a tidy little .archive. I can only imagine what would happen if you uploaded the .png images as a "modder's resource" upload.
I'll be sure to keep your comment in mind if I ever make any other AI-generated content. I thought modder's resources were solely for tools and such, so naturally the thought of uploading this as one of them hadn't even crossed my mind.
