Changelogs
Thank you pieroerri and their excellent Sorcerer - Divine Soul (Revised) mod for inspiring me to make this mod and havsglimt for allowing me to use their Aberrant Mind Sorcerer Subclass as a framework for this mod!
And thank you everyone in the Larian Studios Discord (too many people to name!) for helping me wrangle the coding!

Have you ever felt like the default Dark Urge subclass wasn't Durge-y enough for you? Or have you wanted to play a shanking sorcerer?
Well, this is the mod for you!

Comes with a custom coloured robe ("Black and Bloody Violet' and 'Dark and Bloody Violet' dyes now available in Optional Files) and Your Favourite Knife.

Your Favourite Knife
Uses the Stillmaker skin, as seen in promotional art for The Dark Urge. Is a Melee Caster weapon, so it will scale with the user's Casting stat.
Can be in Durge's starting equipment or dropped by Kressa Bonedaughter in the Mindflayer Colony.
Provides the Dark Urge +2 to Initiative, +1 to melee spell/weapon attacks rolls and reduces the number needed for a Critical Hit by 1.
The weapon also scales with The Dark Urge's level, providing +1 Necrotic damage starting at level 1, +2 Necrotic damage at level 6 and finally +3 Necrotic damage at level 11.

This mod adds the Death Soul subclass for Sorcerers so divinity can fuel the magic in your veins and your stabbing arm.
The initial focus of the mod was to be more lore friendly (a Deathstalker-variant of Divine Soul), but ended up evolving to loosely fit the lore and be fun gameplay-wise.

CommunityLibrary must be first and CompatibilityFramework must be last in the mod load order for this mod to work with other subclass mods!
You may need to rearrange the load order of your subclass mods in order to make them work together.

UPDATE VERSION 4.0.2.0 (7/1/24): Some adjustments. See changelog for details. To be safe, please respec out of Death Soul before downloading this update. Fixed Your Favourite Knife not showing up in starting equipment in that version.

I am currently not planning any more updates regarding this mod (unless there are bugs that need to be fixed) so consider v4 the final major update.

Subclass Progression
Spell List
Level 1: Bane, Command, Inflict Wounds
Level 3: Ray of Enfeeblement, Silence, Spiritual Weapon
Level 5: Animate Dead, Bestow Curse, Spirit Guardians (Necrotic)
Level 7: Death Ward, Freedom of Movement, Mark of Putrefaction, Negative Energy Flood (5e Spells required)
Level 9: Contagion, Destructive Wave (Necrotic), Planar Binding
Level 11: Blade Barrier, Create Undead, Harm

You may pick 1 spell from the list at the appropriate level. This was a compromise as I cannot add them to the Death Soul spell list without adding them to every Sorcerer subclass list. You can pick a spell from an earlier level at later levels (ie. you can take Command at level 3 instead of one the level 3 spells). These spells CANNOT be replaced on level-up like regular Sorcerer spells (another limitation of subclasses), you have to respec if you want to change them.

Level 1
Proficiencies
Stealth
Shortswords
Light Armor

Passives
Slayer's Eyes: Works identically to the Warlock passive, Devil's Sight.
Dance of Death: Gain +1 to Armour Class for 1 turn after killing with Necrotic damage (ie. your attack is a killing blow and at least part of the attack was Necrotic damage, so a Stalker Strike OR a Necrotic spell would work) if you do not have Disadvantage on Stealth checks.

Interrupts
Deathstalker: Stalker Strike: Once per turn you can add 1d6 magical Necrotic damage (scales/mechanically works like Rogue Sneak Attack) to a Finesse weapon attack. This is active by default AND stacks with Rogue Sneak Attacks! Now with Critical Interrupt version! Can be applied to Divine Smites.

Spells/Actions
Stalker Strike: Main hand action version of Stalker Strike, only works with Finesse weapons.
Stalker Strike (Off-Hand)
: Off-hand hand action version of Stalker Strike, only works with Finesse weapons. (If you do not have a Finesse weapon in the off-hand, the action will incorrectly state that it you do not have one in the main hand, even if you do. This is unfortunately part of the game's code and I am not able to fix this, but should go away if you have a Finesse weapon in the off-hand.)
Ghoul Touch: Melee cantrip that deals d10 cantrip damage. Has a 50% chance to Paralyze for 1 turn on a failed CON save of 2.
Deathstalker: Hide: Allows you to use Hide as a Bonus Action.

Level 6

Passives

Stalker Strike: Extra Attack: You may cast a Necrotic cantrip after a successful Stalker Strike. This stacks with other versions of Extra Attack (Weapon attack > Stalker Strike > Cantrip).
Psychopomp
: The Necrotic damage you deal ignores Resistance. You cannot roll a 1 for Necrotic damage. Functionally a Necrotic variant of Elemental Adept.
Psychopomp: Resistance: Gain resistance to Necrotic damage. You take half damage from your own Necrotic spells (this is included because Psychopomp ignores your own resistance).
Shadow of Death: Learn Death Shroud or Stalker Step
Stalker Step: You can spend a Bonus Action and a Sorcery Point to teleport into shadows. It works identically to the Monk Shadow Step. Does not cost a Bonus Action after killing with Necrotic damage.
Death Shroud: Once per Short Rest you can spend a Bonus Action and 2 Sorcery Points to create a small cloud of darkness and immediately hide in it. Works identically to Darkness Cloak. Does not cost a Bonus Action after killing with Necrotic damage.

Level 11

Passives
Scion of Death: Gain Metamagic: Reaping or Last Breath
Metamagic: Reaping Spell
: Costs 2 Sorcery Points. Once per turn, if you kill with a Necrotic spell, you gain a bonus action. Sorcery points are spent even if you miss/the spell does no damage or doesn't kill.
Last Breath: Once per Long Rest, if you reach 0 HP, you will regain 1 HP instead of becoming Downed. Works identically to Half-Orc racial passive Relentless Endurance.

Level 14
Passives
Shadow of Death: Learn Death Shroud or Stalker Step, which ever one you did not take at level 6.

Level 18

Passives
Scion of Death: Gain Metamagic: Reaping or Last Breath, which ever one you did not take at level 11.

Compatibility:
With the Compatibility Framework update, this subclass should be compatible with all others.
Now compatible with Unlock Level Curve and Expansion (Death Soul must be loaded AFTER those mods)!

Here's my Ko-fi if you want to support me!
