The team of Tsardoms Total War proudly presents the brand new 1448 Campaign - Fall of Constantinople. This is a completely new mod folder and is separate from the 1345 campaign, it must be installed separately and run separately. You can have both 1448 and 1345 campaigns installed at the same time. The 1448 campaign uses the 1345 mod as base but has the map expanded in the North and has several new factions while old factions that no longer existed were removed. The units are generally the same as 1345 but they start with their XVth century upgrade. Some factions have had
We have tried to stay as close to historical reality as possible within game limitations and also gameplay considerations. Huge amounts of time and research have gone into creating the units, factions, unit descriptions and faction descriptions. We would like our mod to be used as a reference for the time period and be a fully playable historical simulation. That being said we are always open to criticism and will endeavour to fix any inaccuracies or any issues raised.
Installation
This is a separate mod folder and separate mod from the 1345 campaign
- Download the mod
- Unpack the mod in the Mods folder of your Medieval 2 Total War folder. PLEASE ENSURE YOU UNPACK IN THE MODS FOLDER NOT THE MAIN MEDIEVAL 2 FOLDER
- Steam installation: follow the same instructions as above, than go into Steam right click on the Medieval 2 Kingdoms game, go to Properties, then go to Set Launch Options and replace what is there with the following --features.mod=mods/Fall_of_Constantinople_1.5
Basically for Steam the actual name of the Tsardoms folder and executable file must be there
There is a line in Medieval 2 (not tsardoms) preference file: disable_events. This should line should always be disable_events=0

If you have contributed to the mod or your materials were used and you are not listed in the credits please contact us. The mod has been in development for over a decade and there have been dozens of people working on it so it is possible that it might have been omitted or the team member that used the materials left the mod without letting us know.
Permission to use materials
We have a fairly open policy in regards to permission to use materials. First and foremost we will give permission to use our materials to any mod team that has given us help or that have given us their materials. After that we are happy to trade our units and materials to anyone that will be happy to share their materials with us. If your mod has nothing we need we can still give permission to use the materials. Historical mods will get permission first and only later we will give permission to fantasy mods as we would like to encourage the creation of historical simulations first and foremost. We will deny permission to use materials if we believe your mod is either purposefully not historical or has other issues. Also, permission to use, modify or take parts of our units is given on a faction by faction basis depending on the original creator. Also, some factions or units (such as the Magyar infantry units) come from other mods and as such permission is not ours to give and you must contact the original creators. Please ask Wallachian for permission to use and he will confirm whether it is given or not.
If no member of the team has been active in the forum for more than 6 months and has not replied for more than 6 months we give permission to anyone to use our mod and materials.
Future Plans
We have two big plans going forward: first is to create unit upgrades for all of the factions so that they all have units that fit the XV century. Factions like Sicily, Ragusa, Serbia, Bosnia, Crimea, Karamanids could use with a revamp of their units and the addition of more upgrades. Also, factions like Epirus, Wurttemberg, Ferrara could use more customisation to make them more unique and interesting. The second plan is to create historical events and customisation for each faction. For example, Bosnia, Serbia, Austria, Bavaria could all use more historical events and scripts to make them more fun. Third is to port all of the new features to the 1345 campaign and create the ultimate Tsardoms experience going from 1345 to 1530 with all the added units, scripts, characters and so on (of course except the new factions which can not be added to 1345).
In order to achieve all of the above we need help from the community. It took almost 2 years to create the 1448 campaign due to the limited manpower. So we are looking for both modders and also researchers that can help us to write events, research characters and speed up the process. Without the community help we won't be able to realise any of the above.
hey amazing mod, i just got one issue for some reason i cant play a venice campaign when i start a venice campaign the screen starts glitching out and showing code do you have a way to fix this?, thank you.

Where is the mod folder? Make sure it is in mods and there isn't a folder within a folder
create a copy of the .exe of medieval2 and rename it to kingdoms, that fixed it for me
Hey, could you do us a solid and make a quick 2-minute video showing how to install this mod? It's acting a bit wonky compared to your other versions and keeps crashing on the second turn. We'd be super grateful if you could show us the right way to set it up with the 4GB stuff. Please.. I want to play this so bad but I do not know what I am doing wrong and I need to see you do it cause at this point I think I'm going insane at how many times I had to reinstall and delete this.Please.
unfortunately we don't have the time to do this. but there are several videos on youtube about how to install tsardoms, just search them.
None of them use the correct set launch options via steam way but they seem to work ok.
If you are crashing in the second turn you probably need 4gb patch. It's already in the tsardoms folder called large aware address, just run it and apply it against the medieval 2 and the kingdoms exe

sorry i can't understand what you are saying. but it looks like a ctd in 1453. this is related to an ottoman script attacking constantinople, try reloading or even try using the console to kill of the ottoman army attacking the city

what you uploaded of the log is perfect. but there's not much in terms of why the crash happened. which faction are you playing? does this ctd happen again if you reload the save and try again? Is by any chance Constantinople under siege?

sorry but you have a bug where the mod gets stuck at loding screan when you start any new camping you can hire the sound of camping map but the loding screan stays i have to restart my pc to exit the program
Nope. Not the mods fault. Probably a problem of memory. Try 4gb patch.

Do you mean when you are already in the mod? or when you launch medieval 2? if you are using steam and are using set launch options you just need to pick the regular medieval 2 campaign

I really do like this mod, but I was looking at some factions and some are missing gunpowder units just feels a little unfair. It'd be nice if most got basic gunners. I've only played Albania, which does have the Puskari Gunners, but I want to play the Roman Empire next. The Romans noticeably don't have any. I can understand if its because theres not a lot of history of them using them, but just like "Roman Gunners" as a basic unit would be nice. It'd also be cool if others that lack these got them.
They didn't use to much gunpowder. So I dont think they will change that. Buth you can still hire mercenaries and greek fire soldiers

The issue I am having right now is when getting into the game getting a quick save or loading a save file crashes my game immediately. I saw you mention about running with properties section but i do run it on bat file anyway, because I cant even get into the campaign map with the option you have mentioned(shows up a different error message, simply says my gaphical options are way too high which shouldnt be a problem, I can fluently run RTW with max settings). Loading music changes back to vanilla, background animation changes back aswell etc. Then game crashes when loading bar is on half way. I tried renaming one of DLC files its all the same. I would like to play this mod again so Im looking forward to see your solution. Thanks in advance.

Firstly, i want to thank the development team; the mod took me by surprised, everything is so polished and well done, and as a Greek i appreciate the effort of naming the units and cities correctly!
Just a tiny problem, i can't really play it and enjoy fully, as the window of the game emerges and takes just half of the screen(like half of the screen is the game, the other half is my desktop).
I tried to play with the resolution in the game settings, but to no avail. Any recommendations? Thanks again!
Its simple! Modify the .cfg file and change the windowed = 1 to 0.

They are different mods. Treat with it as an independent mod.
the mod is amazing but there are problems it crashes each time i play a battle as the heir of naples.But from my experiance each time i play an itallian faction i encounter the same problem of the game crashing during a battle ,i dont know if this only for italian factions but thats my experiance.As poland and Austria i haven encountered that problem.There is also a problem with the units of epirus some of their textures(i think) are not loading and just fight as a shinny grey mass.
Yes, It is the Italian heir model which is causing the crashes. Avoid playing any battles which have an Italian heir in the army (either your army or the AI). A fix will come soon.
Hi, I have a question, will the County/Duchy of Wurttemberg be eventually also an option in the Custom battle scenario ? As of now, it is not there to select.
Its easy the change that. But the custom battle scenario has a limit of 28 factions, and there are 29-30. So, Ferrara and Wurttemberg doesn't fit. But dont worry. They dont have unique units. Just Ferrara with they Balestri Estensi (mounted crossbowmen)

Update: actually, even with the patch, it still crashes :(. It seems Northern Italy is really subject to this. Anyway, will probably go back to Tsardom since it was way more stable, at least in my case.
It is the Italian heir model which is causing the crashes. Avoid playing any battles which have an Italian heir in the army. A fix will come soon.
