The stand-alone mod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly aims to be the most stable and customizable experience for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It's powered by the Monolith 64-bit engine, a custom fork of the X-Ray engine.
Immersive and very versatile with a lot of addons to enjoy the whole experience this beautiful game can offer, no doubt the lore is unnerving when it comes to mutants and underground labs or cut content from the original trilogy that has been added here with lots of theories and new content.
I've been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R games and mods since I am 12 with a great passion due to the mistery of the zone and the deep lore about what makes it so special, but never so far I've been so satisfied with a stand alone mod that can satisfy my nerd and freaky needs when it comes to immersion, roleplaying and clearly, having fun.
All the maps and all the levels are available, with interesting characters, interesting plot twist and theories about factions and also the survavility struggle when you play it on iron man without addons and go for invictus with the vanilla experience.

Anomaly is the foundation for the most sophisticated version of Stalker.
When expanded with all the available add-ons and mod-packs, (and the hard work to make them compatible) it creates the most immersive, memorable, unforgiving, engaging, as well as beautiful version of this, now venerable, game possible!

This is a review from someone with relatively little experience with the STALKER games in general, i was always more of a Metro fan myself, so take that for what it's worth.
What I think Anomaly really excels at is immersion and modability. Its a very immersive game, and whether i'm a Loner doing jobs mostly for Sidorovich and Wolf, or im in the Clear Sky, trying to clear out the Swamps of Renegades, im immersed as my character. It could definitely be better, but its great as is.
Making mods for it is rather easy, even without any good tutorials here, you do have to figure it out but its not too hard to make some balancing changes and get the game closer to what YOU like.
its free, so at least give it a shot and maybe you'll dig it.
Absolutely beautiful transition of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games to something that looks, feels, and plays better. Better models, maps, performance, A-Life, more guns, more mechanics and it's own campaign. Incredibly professional, and a wonder to behold.
An upgraded fanmade version of STALKER why not, there is absolutely no reason to hate this, yes it could be better in some aspects but seriously it's FREE, plus have a problem with an aspect of the game well guess what we got mods for that.
Because of like this mods I keep coming back to Stalker.
I love this game, The limitless opportunities this gives is astonishing, I would play this everyday if i could have the time, but i will play this and i enjoy it with or without mods. this deserves game of the year, change my mind.

Anomaly's quality standard is like no other stalker mod I've ever seen.
Not only that, but it's as far as I know, the most stable mod for stalker.
The game offers a ton of options in its settings, and what you can't change, there are surely addons for it available on moddb.
