Barry's Better Knives is a Knife Reanimation & Rebalance.
DLTX & 1.5.2 REQUIRED
This mod is a complete reanimation of the knives for anomaly, includes:
Draw
Holster
Walk
Sprint
Idle
Inspect
3 Light Attack Variants
1 Heavy Attack Variant
Transition Poses
All knives deal more damage by default & can break boxes in one swing but degrade faster requiring you to sharpen them more often.
This is a work in progress mod that I will update with new animations as I improve them over time.

Does this work with B&S knives and/or axes too?
it works with all knives that use the standard knife animations. some wacky BaS ones like the machete or hatchet might not align perfect but i cant be bothered to be honest.
Axes are not part of this, those are 2 handed and use a completely different set of animations. I do plan on doing axes as a separate mod in the near future

I dont know if youre already aware of this but when using with FDDA, the skinning animation uses the black combat knife than the one you are holding when using this mod.
Thats an FDDA/Skinning from inventory mod problem, nothing to do with mine. it doesnt matter what knife animations youre using, if youre not holding the knife in your hand when starting the skinning animation it will always show the combat knife.
This mod changes the animations and nothing more

Привет, надеюсь ты прочитаешь это сообщение. Очень хочу этот аддон, но он у меня не работает черт возьми и не знаю почему ( Установил через менеджер модов) новой анимации нет, я ставил обе версии с патчем(BaS) и без патча. Такое ощущение, что он конфликтует с чем-то, но у меня из анимак только FDDA. Надеюсь вы подскажите чего-нить. Пожалуйста !
Есть ли у вас DLTX?, это необходимо для работы этого аддона

I maybe missing something, but .. I compared the .ltx files included in the download for both "balance" and "reanimation only" versions, and they are pretty much identical. Where's the balance part?
you certainly are, the balancing is in the omf data.
I see, so not the "damage / armor penetration values" kind of balance, but more of an animation/model kind of thing then?
kinda, currently its done through motion marks inside the animations themselves.
Its honestly not a very good way to do it & will even slightly cause issues with an upcoming mod because of the way its set up.
Im going to change it to be hit_power based balancing from the configs in a new update soon
Here I have some kind of problem appeared. The addon started to work crookedly, the hands go sideways at about 60 degrees, that is, they are upside down on the right side of the screen. What could be the problem?
you have something else that is affecting the knife's hud position.
do not use multiple knife or other addons that edit melee at the same time.

Это только анимация. я не прикасался ни к моделям, ни к текстурам. это оригиналы. если какой-то другой аддон захочет это исправить, это здорово, но этот аддон предназначен только для анимации.

Quick question. What will happen if i install this new update in the i.5.1 version? I have not installed yet the 1.52 version, im afraid of breaking older mods and ruining my playthrough
No idea, definitely nothing good, probably crash.
You can jankily make this 1.5.1 "compatible" by deleting the scripts folder & removing/commenting out lines 26 to 32 of the mod_system_meleeanims ltx but i will warm you this will break the sprint and make transitioning to sprint look really wacky in-game.
Id highly recommend updating to 1.5.2, 99% of old addons work fine on it. the addon needs to touch a few very specific files for it to not be compatible, and i cant think of any of those that have not been updated yet.

Здравствуйте! Классный мод, особенно его обновлённая версия. Но есть один нюанс: почему-то изменилась анимация PDA, она рассинхронизировалась и работает даже не так, как в ванильной аномалии. У меня была модификация reanimation PDA - с ней тоже проблемы из-за вашено мода, анимация более ускорена и невпопад со звуком. Отключаю вашу анимацию и всё хорошо становится. Обе модификации DLTX. Спасибо

This is some of the best animations I've seen for Anomaly, and I would like to say that this mod is compatible with 1.5.1 + Desolation. I am using the rebalance and reanimation version, and it works pretty flawlessly. The only thing that seems slightly off is the transition to sprinting, and it still looks pretty good with that happening.

and yes, the transition poses & scripts are the only 1.5.2 components so it will work on 1.5.1 but the transitions will look messed up.

semi, it shouldnt crash you but some animations wont work/look weird like transitioning to sprint the knife will freakout in your hand without 1.5.2
would highly recommend updating to 1.5.2! 99.9% of things work no issues with it.

Hi! Would it be possible to make knives more viable for stealth? NPCs seem to hear it too well when I try to stab someone. Like it's probably realistic, but I'd love to have more gameplay options
its not working for me mod organiser says its installed successfully but its theres no animation. is there just no animation for the defult knife

BARRY!!!!!! First of all insane mod and animations, I'm really having a blast with it. Especially using the knifes strong attack to kill mutants. It's is so goddamn satisfying.
I wanted to ask if you plan to do a patch or something to make this compatible with blindside's military "to be released" pack, since it's going to alter the 6H4 Bayonet and the Spetsnaz Switchblade. I was like: "oh no conflict incoming".

Great Mod! but... While pairing this one with FDA when you skin a monster with your knife already draw in your hand also play the a draw knife animation again to play the skining animacion one of FDA.

Dont know where to get a patch but I fixed it disabling "Mutant loot animation" in the FDDA settings in MCM. By doing this your characacter will not use the bag animation to put the loot and only will use the knife animation of this mod. is a in between solution but works. Try it and see if you like it

that is just how FDDA works with or without this addon, im not a scripter i just replaced the animations with better ones. youll notice that exact behavior without this addon installed too
Если включена анимация разделки FDDA и взят нож в руку, то при разделке монстра главный герой сначала убирает нож, а потом снова его достает. И только после всего этого начинается анимация разделки. Нужен патч. А где его взять?

А вообще мод отличный и позволяет занять себя во время долгих перемещений: достал нож, убрал нож. Достал нож, убрал нож. И так пока не надоест :)
Every time I draw the knife while having the artifact detector on my hand it changes the hud fov and it looks like I have the detector directly on my face, any way to fix that?
you can try removing the hud_fov = 0.5 line from the knife configs as a cheap fix but the real problem is something else you have affecting the detector positions
