do u think this would work with TAZ addon? im not sure but i think the TAZ overhaul replaces some skyboxes too. it does changes audio files too, so i was wondering.

1. TAZ shouldn't touch skyboxes, only weapons.
2. If TAZ does modify skyboxes, check if it modifies the weather files, if not then you can safely overwrite and let this mod take priority. If TAZ does modify weather files, then this is probably incompatible.
3. I have used TAZ and I don't remember TAZ replacing skyboxes so make sure to check thoroughly.
Hope this helped.

Hey I do not want you to feel rushed as I understand quality takes time, but are you still working on a 2k & 4k version?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
d_nan Author
d_nan - - 219 comments

Yes! The thing is that there are 217 files. Multiply that by 2 since I need to create 2k and 4k versions, and its 434 files. I prefer to upscale through an AI then basically recreate the dds and work out all of the issues by hand through photoshop so each upscale takes me about 30 minutes to 1 hour. So, as you can see, 434 files with each taking me 30 minutes to 1 hour is gonna take me a while. Of course, I have done 23 of them already.

does this affect performance? don't have a great PC, thanks!

You see this is why I am making options. 4k for high end pcs, 2k for most(both are WIP) and 1k for potatos. As of right now, I have only completed the 1k variant and that is the one I uploaded. This is basically the same resolution as the higher end skyboxes of vanilla Anomaly(a lot of vanilla skyboxes are actually 512x512 but some are 1k), so no there should be absolutely no performance loss from using 1k, since thats the same resolution as some of the skyboxes in vanilla Anomaly, or even 2k for that matter assuming you have the ram but thats still WIP. Hope this helped!

i'm new to this and might sound stupid, but i have most of my settings on the lowest to get 60+ consistently, this sky box isn't working i think. does having the settings down all the way matter? and if so which settings should i switch to be able to see it?

Having textures all the way down really negatively affects the skies redux experience. Also maybe you haven't noticed the skyboxes because I haven't changed every skybox texture(slowly and steadily working on it). Disable Skies Redux, turn on debug mode and launch an emission. Then enable Skies Redux, keep debug mode and launch an emission. If the sky textures look dramatically different, then Skies Redux works, and, yes, the other sky textures in Skies Redux were designed to have subtle but really high quality changes in comparison to the base sky textures.

the previous version contained more textures, and was normally named (the file), why this change?

What are you talking about??? If you are referring update 3.0, it had somehow gotten contaminated with vanilla files so yeah sure it had more textures but they weren't new textures and the name, ah whatever, people like it anyway. Also the actual previous version aka V2.1 did not have more textures. Next time, please read through the entire description and change log before commenting about changes inaccurately. Thank you.

Hi, how to update from 2.0 to 2.1 via JGSME?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
d_nan Author
d_nan - - 219 comments

So first write down your mod order on a piece of paper or on your computer. Then disable all of your mods. Delete Skies Redux V2.0 and install Skies Redux V2.1A. Then delete the leftover files in the gamedata, its a bug that JSGME has where even if you disable everything, it still keeps left over files. Then reenable all of your mods via that mod order you had written down earlier, with Skies Redux V2.1A substituting 2.0 and that's it! Enjoy!

Some skies will work, some skies won't. AREA uses a different file structure so some skies will look different and other skies will be like default AREA skies. So try it but your gonna have to change the file structure yourself.

Great addon, thanks! It's just a bit confusing that the file is named freedom_mutants_videos.rar

Why not call it skies_redux.rar or something along those lines? Sure I can rename it myself, just a suggestion to make life easier :-)

HERETIC!! HERESY!! DEATH!!!!!!

Aight fr tho, the main reason for it is simply tradition. I know its a terrible reason but I like it. Makes the addon feel a bit more unique too you know. Also I am sure people prolly get a good laugh off it too so yeah, I hope you don't mind.

I feel like the emission skybox that comes with Anomaly is better than the one included in here. It would be nice if we could have an option for a higher res version of the vanilla emission skybox in future versions.

I will think about it tho I think you could find levi's old 2k skyboxes, take the emission files and just replace mine. Also 1980s & 2020 Supra > 1990s Supra.

Hello there, can you do compatibility patch for Extended Draw Distance V0.4? Moddb.com

Just noticed how I get a bizarre CTD upon launching Anomaly with both of these addons enabled.

For some reason I can't see the awesome skyboxes you put in the screenshots. When I try this mod the sky becomes more white than it was before. During a emission the sky remained white. I'm not sure what am I doing wrong.

1. Check if you got debug mode on.
2. If above fails, try reinstalling the entire file, maybe it got corrupted when you downloaded it.
3. Tell me what happened so I can help someone out in the future too.
Hope your problem gets fixed ASAP from these steps and have a nice day. :)

1. I do have debug mode on. Does it change anything?
2. the file is just fine, I've seen the textures in photoshop and they all functional.
3. For some reason, my game hardly gets clear 1 or 2 weather, most of the time is either rainy of foggy, but even without reshade it's hard to tell if there are clouds in the sky.
Thanks for caring!

1. YES! Dude, there's a bug with weather editor where if lightning flashes, you basically get flashbanged by the game. Turn it off, it will def help(I think).
2. Great!
3. Check your weather settings, you can change them around to have clear or partly clear occur more often also clear weather is kinda rare but partly clear isn't too rare also foggy should be rare too. But just check your weather settings, it should help.

Not all skyboxes are changed. Check emissions to see if its different since those are the easiest way to tell if the mod works or not. Also, make sure you install via MO2. JSGME & manual aren't recommended and I would discourage its use for modding Anomaly. Lastly, the file might have gotten corrupted while downloading, download again and reinstall. Hopefully, this should help.

Yeah, same. Have tried installing this mod in several ways to no effect. Using MO2, and trying it manually don't seem to alter the sky in any capacity. Have tried with and without reshade. Changed the weather through debug, lumscale, etc. Nothing works. Just that same goddamn drab, featureless white sky. haha Vedy strange, me thinks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The featureless white sky thing is a bug from 1.5.0 not 1.5.1 so check your version too. Also maybe try this fix not sure if it works or not on 1.5.1 but here: Moddb.com. Also delete shader cache too, might help.

What will happen if I installs an old version of the mod, version 1, the one with DB in the file structure, and them install the new version on top of that?

I have a problem, I a not fan of the new blow out, is the colors, to me, blowouts need to be red or warm colors, the new one are too purple and blue, i think those color work better with psi-emissions.

Well, i installed the new version without the blowout folder, but there is something missing now, like clouds or something, the old mod version have nice reddish blowout, but is in a DB format.

I will like to install the old version to get the red blowout, them install the new version minus the blowout folder.

Will that work?

V1? I am surprised anyone even has that but yeah, you could try it. Or you could get AXRToolset and unpack the db and just mix and match the files as you please. AXRToolset Link: Github.com
