More than two years after 1.4.22 and one and a half years after 1.5 R6, it is most certainly time to explain what has been going on.

A bit of story time first about what am I even doing and how did I end up here. All the way back in May 2017, I was digging around the Bitbucket repository and found a mirror leading to the in-development version. After playing around with that for some time, I started reporting bugs and other issues. Seeing how some were not resolved, I decided to make some changes myself. Right around this time it was already August with the release of the first 1.5 beta versions and me digging around in the game, having all kinds of ideas. This lead to the last version of the original 1.5, R4. After that, things changed. I was suddenly part of the team working on gameplay balance related changes, which can be seen in a horrible state in R6. Here is where everything went wrong. It turned out later, that I joined in either the best or worst time. Development was right about to be stopped by Alundaio, who didn't want to work on the mod anymore. With me joining, I became the fresh source of power, trying to keep going. It was going fine for a surprisingly long amount of time, but then nearly everybody had to take longer and longer breaks. What I did in the end is completely ruin the development by going off track, trying to completely redo major parts of the game.

All that lead to the current state. Development paused back in the end of July 2018 with some small activity spikes up until around October. I took my own long break, also waiting and hoping people will come back. Without team lead and our C++ programmer, I tried to change the engine under the mod with the help from a Russian team, to one that uses mid July 2018 Open X-Ray as a base, which is 64 bit. It wasn't very successful to say the least.

So, what next? Well, the mod needs manpower in order to be continued. Mainly C++ and LUA programmers, but anything helps, even writers and good QA. If you can help, leave some information about what you can do in the comments. If you know someone, please send them our way.

Update: I can no longer promise any activity from my end. After many years with stalker, I have to start making major changes in life, which will not leave enough time for a project this big.

The last in-development builds: 32 bit from October 2018 | crashy 64 bit from February 2019

Now days mods like coc have been forgotten, everyone is just simping over anamoly and dead air, coc is now completely out of line and for the vanilla they are also dead no one cares about them either, Anamoly has just taken over the whole stalker community like a virus, i mean me myself have come across a lot of players who were straight up playing anamoly without even knowing **** about the lore of stalker which is really sad i will say, no one cares about vanilla games anymore.Nowdays people are just so busy in efp and gamma lol.

Well, they can do what they want, to me, anomaly is a great mod, with some mods, but not THE best stalker experience. As for EFP and GAMMA, to me this shouldn't be considered as a "Stalker" game, mod or whatever.
I has the same engine, factions, world etc.. But they do not have the STALKER feeling. They're too different to be playable as a Stalker game. For a new player, I thinks these packs are a great experience, it's like a whole different game and completely free, but they're not playing stlaker, they're playing a survival shooter, that uses Stlaker as a base, but the game is clearly not the same.

Of course, they miss a lot that stlaker has to offer, the lore, the feeling, the immersion... But yeah, you can't stop them from playing these modpacks. And at the end of the day, they are missing good things, not you, not me, them and only them.
If some are willing to play the og games, with or without mods, to get the history of the game, it's nice. if they don't, it's thier problem.

Agree with you. It's just sad to see game and mods you play in the past get abandoned and forgotten by people.

I started by SOCH then CS and finally COP, but a thing that vanilla games didn't have done(probably only stalker 2 will) but Anomaly and GAMMA has done is that, the gameplay and immersion is way bigger than in vanilla. You feel like you part of the zone in those mods, in vanilla you're just a merc or some guy payed to do some jobs/work; In Anomaly/GAMMA, you feel like you're just 1 more stalker in the zone, your life is just fragile as any other stalker. Mainly, the difference tween vanilla and thos mods is the feeling and immersion(vanilla has good immersion, but mods are better doing that). As a russia culture enthusiast, vanilla game tells you everything about the zone, game and the culture of ukranian(what the soviets/russians done there), every question that you have can be answered, but in mods you just don't know what to do, who's strelok or wathever. The best way to start in STALKER series is playing at least SCOH first, then going to CS. After that you just need to play COP or Anomaly/GAMMA(cause COP even being better game, don't feel the same as the first 2 games).

I am not saying that you shouldnt play anomaly all i am trying to say here is play the original game first then try anomaly I got no hate for anomaly and tbh i personally play anomaly myself and why shouldnt I Its a nice mod.

One other thing I want to talk about is that alot of people are going to be disappointed when they will discover that stalker 2 isnt exactly going to be like gamma or anomaly.

I've already played all the original games, I wanted to play some of the mods, but most of them are broken or lack content or just kinda boring.
Anomaly is just more interesting I guess. There are mods that work and are a bit different, but Anomaly just has more stuff and I can basically do the same things in the other mods.

I've played a bit of RTTN and Dead Air, but apart from adding more melee weapons and having... slightly more difficult gameplay than Anomaly, there's not too much. Dead Air doesn't even have a storyline. Anomaly even gives you the option to not have one.
I suppose one downside to Anomaly is the story, if you don't like it, you gotta choose something else. and I think those other storylines are pretty fun. but it seems that those games are broken.

ANOMALY's problem is intractably awful gameplay.

I don't know why, but I really identify with your comment. the sons of misery are amazing, but coc is the purest sandbox experience of the classic stalker. I'm finishing my compiled version of various mods from the community, ports of mods from other stalkers and some compatibility paths that I made resulting in a unique coc experience that I divided into two parts, a version for campaign and another for warfare. hold on, now I just need to test the crashes
send me messages in private if you want to test.

It really saddens me that anamoly is getting more attention than the vanilla games itself which is a really sad thing i have come across many people who didint even had touched the vanilla games and straight up started playing anamoly without even knowing the history and lore of the zone which is pretty messed up i will say in my opinion i mean anamoly is a great mod but giving it more importance over the vanilla games doesnt make any sense to me.
