You, a lone scientist, wake up in the scattered remains of a sector in the Black Mesa Facility, the Aleph Centre for Scientific advancements and research (ACSAR). You don't know you got there, but you do know one thing: You need to get out of here! Generic mod story aside, this a classic-style Half-Life 1 mod that I'm working on all by myself which is my first mod project where I didn't give up on making after three hours of creating nothing. There won't be really anything special aside from a few textures and models. Constructive criticism is not only welcome, but appreciated, as I want to make this as good as I can. Hopefully I will release a demo soon.Generic mod story aside, this a classic-style Half-Life 1 mod that I'm working on all by myself which is my first mod project where I didn't give up on making after three hours of creating nothing. Just downloaded it, it gives me "Fatal Error: Couldn't load opfor.wad".
The problem was that I put all the wad files in a separate folder (the one called 'wads') instead leaving them in the main folder. (the one called 'aleph')
I updated the download so that this is no longer an issue for future downloads.
There are missing and misplaced models, the game doesn't launch because of it. Specifically, "w_saw" is called from custom folder, which doesn't exist. Same thing for "batteryl" but there is no such model in the archive, so I renamed the regular battery to launch the game.
Played a bit, the second map crashes when it loads in with a "couldn't open" error. Are your wads in place?
not working
Did it put out an error message? What did it say?
fatal error
It should say something like "Fatal Error: Couldn't load XXX". You need to give the full message, or the author doesn't know what to fix.
Like I told you, it's because of the wads. You didn't put the decay.wad in.
EDIT: THE MISSING WAD FILE ISSUE IS NOW FIXED
v1.2 is still missing decay.wad (though that appears to be the last missing file).
Having played the whole thing, I can say this is shaping up to be a fairly decent little romp! There's a few minor issues (door switches not being right, that sort of thing), but on the whole this is a very solid 7/10 so far.
Keep at it!
