Yeah, unfortunately I never had time to add HD menu and there was practically no demand for it back in a day, as everyone seemed to be comfortable with just editing config files... Hopefully someone would be able to do it.

I remember similar bug happening when loading a quicksave created mid-shooting; the game does not save temporary effects and it tries to use them anyway. Does it still happen with new save game? Maybe restarting the level would help, but take it with a grain of salt. Also, AFAIK the bug affected only certain weapons. Hopefully it'll help...

Yes, I agree.
Basically only the first level is somewhat playable, what happens afterwards is pretty much a slaughterhouse - especially with Brutal Doom mechanics.
I haven't worked on it further due to low interest and lack of time. (as explained in my one of my posts above)

Yeah, the bug was known to me for some time - the muzzle flash object is not saved properly and the game crashes when it lacks it. Too bad it's buried pretty deep...
