Sunrun continues to expand #PuertoRico’s virtual power plant program, providing a reliable 6+ megawatts on a single day to support the grid. Nearly 1,800 of our customers — totaling more than 2,000 batteries — participate in our PowerOn Puerto Rico virtual power plant, dispatching power to provide Puerto Ricans with reliable and affordable energy. In May and June, Sunrun dispatched its participating fleet of batteries on every single weekday. With a total of 364,000+ kWh of clean, affordable energy dispatched, Sunrun’s fleet of home solar and batteries helps the grid avoid using costly and polluting fossil fuel generators. The program has been supplying dependable energy from solar-plus-storage systems to the island’s energy grid since last fall. Sunrun is proud to have many of its customers participate in Puerto Rico’s Battery Emergency Demand Response Program. https://lnkd.in/dMJ-qc6u Ongoing outages plague Puerto Rico with dangerous frequency; tools like home solar and battery systems help them to keep the lights on for their everyday needs, and support the overall grid. That’s why it’s so important to ensure foundational policies remain in place to secure access to reliable and resilient energy on the island. #PowerForPR https://lnkd.in/eCxuifmy

With the recent challenges brought by #HurricaneBeryl, we believe more Texans deserve reliable solutions like home solar and batteries. Don’t let outages keep you in the dark—embrace the power of the sun and storage to stay powered during extreme weather!
Quick Update post Hurricane Beryl: We were in the eye of the hurricane but took no damage. We were also able to run our neighbors fridges and fans on both sides of our home and host another family to stay with us until power came back on. Funny side note. My daughter thought it would be nice to crank the ac down to 68 degrees upstairs so our guests could be comfortable and that drained our batteries overnight. Ended up losing power by 8 am because I didn’t notice the change. (It sure was cozy though!) it only took another hour for the solar to start generating enough to charge the batteries and run the home. AND my Powerwalls were able to get to 65% by mid-day before the grid was restored. Pretty awesome!
